As a high-performing leader, the increasing demands of your role can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt, commonly known as imposter syndrome. From my work with clients, I’ve found that those who experience imposter syndrome are often the most brilliant and overqualified individuals. This phenomenon can affect anyone, making you question your achievements and fear being exposed as a "fraud." It’s crucial to recognize these feelings early and take steps to reclaim your inner brilliance. 🚨 Recognizing the Signs of Imposter Syndrome Imposter syndrome can manifest in various ways. If you experience: ☑︎ Doubting your skills or accomplishments ☑︎ Attributing success to luck ☑︎ Feeling anxious about new challenges These may indicate that it’s time to take a step back and evaluate your mindset. 🌟 Overcoming Imposter Syndrome To embody your brilliance, consider implementing these strategies: ✨Acknowledge Your Achievements: Keep a record of your accomplishments and celebrate your successes. Read them over, especially when you are doing something for the first time. ✨Seek Constructive Feedback: Ask for feedback from trusted colleagues or friends preferably from someone who has been where you are going. ✨Talk to a Professional: A mental health professional can help you work through feelings of self-doubt and assist you in fully embodying your brilliance. When considering the question, “Am I getting better?” it’s crucial to understand that our brains can be quite tricky, especially under stress, depression, or anxiety, which often accompany burnout. During these times, our minds tend to focus on the negative, making us biased and subjective in our self-assessment. Consequently, relying solely on our perceptions when stressed or anxious may lead us to believe we’re not improving, even if we are. To combat this bias, it’s essential to use objective measures to gauge our progress. By regularly measuring our state, we can gain a more accurate picture of our recovery. Check out these great tips from Shannon A Swales in Psychology Today. #Burnout #Stress #Growth #Recovery #Anxiety

Check out this amazing article by Katya Krotkov, CFA Ambassador for the Stanford Center on Longevity and an experienced Management Consultant, on the hot topic of burnout. Here are a few takeaways, but make sure to deep dive into Katya’s post for the full insights: 🌠“The most common mistake is thinking that major risk comes from long hours. In fact, there are many other risks to mental health at work…For highly motivated individuals in intellectually demanding jobs, how they work can be even more critical than how much they work.” 🎇“…individuals who are neurotic, competitive, impulsive, and impatient or have difficulty expressing their emotions are more likely to experience burnout.” 🎆Effective strategies for burnout prevention: - Developing internal locus of control - Taking practical steps to tackle the stressor directly. P.S. I really enjoyed the Katya’s top-notch writing style - clear, concise, and straight to the point. A great read🤩
