Later this year, the 2024 Boca Finance and Real-Estate Conference will be hosted from December 12th to 13th at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. The conference theme is “Interest-Rate Risk and its Impact on Banking and Real Estate.” The keynote speakers for this conference will be, Ran Dunchin, professor of Finance at Boston College, and Susan Wachter, professor of Real Estate at the University of Pennsylvania. The conference is partnering with the Financial Review among other publications and papers selected will have the opportunity to be published in the Financial Review. The submission to the Financial Review will be from December 16, 2024, to January 31, 2025. This is a “no-fault” submission option, which means that if the Financial Review decides to review the paper and rejects it, the authors can submit the paper to the Financial Review through the normal submission process. The Administrative Fairness Lab is today publishing the second report from its study of bureaucratic justice in Universal Credit, which is funded by the Nuffield Foundation. The new report, building on findings from the first report of the project, identifies which particular process qualities shape whether claimants perceive Universal Credit processes to be bureaucratically just or unjust. Based on a new survey undertaken with YouGov, it proposes a new model of bureaucratic justice in Universal Credit. The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, supported by the Economic Development Collaborative, is launching Connect 120, a new initiative designed to connect the university’s resources and expertise to all 120 county extension offices in Kentucky. Prof. Liz Austen (Booth) and Sheila Jones-Devitt’s insightful piece rightly highlights the gap between political rhetoric and the reality of improving student outcomes in higher education. The five proposed pledges offer a promising framework for policymakers, yet the challenge of translating these promises into tangible impact remains. I'd like to build upon this discussion by suggesting that module and course evaluation, and the broader concept of student voice, are essential tools in achieving these ambitious goals. * Student feedback can help institutions ensure that enhancement efforts align with student needs and expectations, thus fulfilling Pledge 1. * Evaluations and feedback loops can provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of change processes, supporting Pledge 3. * Positive student feedback can serve as a direct indicator of impact, moving beyond a mere focus on outputs as per Pledge 4. * Evaluations can contribute to defining and tracking indicators of success, fulfilling Pledge 5 and ensuring that improvement efforts are data-driven. Moreover, by incorporating student voice into the enhancement process, we can move beyond well-intentioned actions to evidence-based strategies that empower students and lead to meaningful improvements in their educational experiences. #evaluation #studentoutcomes evasys Surveys and Evaluations #studentvoice
