Air India, with its long history and global recognition, undoubtedly holds a stronger position among the two brands, especially in the global market. However, Vistara has cultivated a distinct identity and brand experience that resonates with its travellers. 🤔 Tell me: Given a choice between two airlines with the same price (or even if Vistara is slightly higher) and preferred time to fly, wouldn't you choose Vistara over the other? This experience, built on exceptional service, modern amenities, and a premium feel, surpasses Air India in many ways. This is a valuable equity that Air India should leverage and build on. While the Vistara Airline brand may be discontinued, the idea of Vistara 🎈the promise of a superior travel experience 🎈 is a valuable asset that must continue. The idea of stretching out a bit on a long flight was my little victory as a frequent flyer. Fast-forward to today, with the news of Air India and Vistara merging, I can’t help but wonder: What happens to all those carefully saved points and miles? This merger isn’t just a fleet boost; it’s reshaping the loyalty game for millions like me. Collectively, Club Vistara (CV) members hold over 5 million points. So, what’s next? Will those rewards roll over into Air India’s scheme? Will we get access to more destinations or maybe upgraded perks? From a marketing angle, this merger is a delicate dance. Emphasizing the added value, ease of transition, and broadening redemption options is vital. Financially, it’s a big win, too. Vistara raked in over $200 million annually from co-branded credit cards. I however feel there will be many challenges and may be opportunities too in Brand Integration Merging two brands with established customer bases and distinct personalities can be a complex undertaking. Key challenges include: Brand Loyalty: Both Vistara and Air India have loyal customer bases who may be hesitant to embrace a new brand identity. Brand Equity: Preserving the positive equity associated with each brand while creating a new, unified image is crucial. Specially for Vistara?
