Today marks a monumental milestone in my life. I am officially a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate! This journey over the past three years has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. Throughout this time, Round Table has been more than just a commitment; it has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional growth. Round Table didn’t just challenge me, it shaped me. It taught me the value of service, resilience, and integrity. It helped me grow into a better man, equipped to face the challenges life threw my way. Balancing academics with the responsibilities of Round Table and work wasn’t easy. From late-night assignments after long meetings to managing complex work challenges alongside community initiatives, I often wondered how I would get through it all. But it was the lessons I learned through Round Table, leadership, teamwork, and determination that kept me going. I am grateful for the people who inspired and encouraged me, both in the Table and beyond. The experiences I’ve gained overcoming obstacles, managing time, and staying focused have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. To everyone facing their own challenges: embrace them. They are enthusiastic, fun to work with, eager to learn, and bring different perspectives and energy to the table. However, the challenge is channelling all their energy in the right direction. Some want to learn everything and get their hands on whatever comes their way. Some need guidance to transition out of college days, thinking tasks are like assignments. Some take it casually; they just want to enjoy and don't understand that they are recruited to do work. With the right guidance and support, I have found that they are the best people to work with. They ask questions that many team members don't ask. They respect fellow professionals but also want them to be their friends. The key is the balance of both things. I have seen early spark in these trainees and helped them to understand their strengths and weaknesses. With right guidance and support, they become more confident and on the path of becoming future leaders. Once they get the hang of their professional journey, they become crucial parts of organizational success. Let's celebrate the journey of nurturing young talent! "Jess, leadership is in your DNA, you’re a natural leader." said my mentor today. While I’m honored, I’ve always believed that leadership isn’t about what you call yourself, but how others feel in your presence.I don’t see myself as a “leader” yet, but rather as someone who takes responsibility seriously. #Leadership, to me, is about how others remember you and how you make them feel. For me, leadership is built on action, reflection, and connection. I reflect deeply on how I can be a better colleague and mentor, ensuring my team and mentees feel #secure, #supported, and #empowered. Watching my mentees grow gives me immense pride because they know I’m always there to guide them. Why do I do this? My mentors have shaped me to feel valued, safe, and inspired to explore the world. Looking back, I realize my leadership journey began long before I knew it. From primary school days when my mom would ask, "Can you take a break from all these student leadership roles?" as I immersed myself in extracurriculars, events, and meetings. But that didn’t stop me. Leading student teams during my diploma and adv diploma days, these experiences shaped my sense of responsibility and drive. Even as a fresh graduate, I sought out learning opportunities and taking courses even going overseas conferences - never a rejection. #Volunteering helped me develop skills in project management, and working with diverse teams has provided me with countless invaluable lessons. There’s always room to grow, and I’m excited to learn from those around me. I’m grateful for who I am, where I am, who I’m with today, and and the opportunities ahead. It wasn’t just about learning leadership principles—it was about understanding how to truly lead myself first. Through this program, I’ve learned how to brand myself, articulate my ideas with clarity, and embrace challenges with newfound confidence. Whether it was mastering the nuances of personal branding, improving my presentation skills, or refining my leadership style, every session pushed me to become a more self-assured and capable individual.
