We enjoyed attending the Upriser Collective event at ITV today - it was great to hear about the project & it’s positive impact on schools in Salford, Cardiff, Leeds & Leith though their work with ITV & agencies such as THE LEITH AGENCY LIMITED plus the ambitions for futute work in Greater Manchester with Greater Manchester Combined Authority Thank you for the invite Jason Spencer 🙌

Sometimes #careeradvice can be helpful from a trusted source. But not when it's from the classic TV show "Candid Camera" and especially if you're on the receiving end of one of their pranks. Here's some questionable career guidance that the recently departed and hugely #innovative comedian Richard Lewis received when he was a student at New Jersey's Dwight Morrow High School in 1964. Bottom line: before considering the suggestions and recommendations that someone is offering, be sure to doublecheck the validity/credibility/expertise of the person who's offering it! https://lnkd.in/ebktWD5j

I am blessed to work for a progressive organisation, The Northern Ireland Boys' Brigade (BBNI), that recognises the importance of investing in staff training and development. I am fortunate to be a member of CO3 Chief Officers 3rd Sector, an organisation that understands the challenges of the sector and works hard to secure funding and provide tailored, relevant and accessible learning opportunities. I am currently completing 2 courses through CO3 and, in an attempt to properly reflect and apply the learning, I am writing a series of reflections on some of the gems of knowledge that have been so willingly shared by both the course tutors and my learning colleagues. I was once told that ‘sharing is caring’ so in that spirit, I am sharing the reflections here. I hope they strike a chord with someone reading them. Feedback and comments welcome! What’s keeping you behind the podium? The impact of a video shared on day 2 of the CO3 Chief Officers 3rd Sector Leading for the Future programme at Ulster University seemed to be far reaching among the learning group. It appears to now be on a repeat loop in my mind! Behind the scenes in the making of The Greatest Showman, a video was recorded of Keala Settle singing ‘This is me’ for the first time and captures her journey of stepping out from behind the podium. Such a powerful watch on so many levels. The development of inner confidence to step out, the impact it has on others, the impact it has on self when that step is taken….and the power of the end product. As I reflect, the questions I am asking myself: 💡 ‘This is me’ – who is that and do I bring my authentic self to every part of my life? 💡 Who can I encourage to step out from behind the podium and how can I support them to do that? 💡 What projects/ tasks/ decisions would benefit from me stepping out in front of the podium and what is keeping me behind the podium? 💡 What could be achieved if the podium is no longer blocking key decisions? Stepping out from behind the podium is a positive enabler to achieving great things, both for yourself, your team and your organisation. I encourage you to watch the video and see what effect it has on you. https://lnkd.in/eqHR_JeV

One small change can make the world of difference. And more often than not, the change you need comes from a great teacher. At least this was the case for England centre-back Marc Guehi, who was coached by Segun, a passionate Premier Education franchisee. Check out the video from Sky Sports News, as they catch up with Segun, and other teachers from Guehi's primary school - and understand how the role of a teacher can help children to love the sport that they play, whether they go on to play for England, or whether they like to play for fun. Check out the video to hear what Segun had to say: https://hubs.ly/Q02CPdCn0

What an insightful opinion piece on the importance of supporting the arts in our beloved Aberdeen. It highlights the pivotal role the arts play in shaping our identity and building a vibrant community. Investing in local arts projects, apprenticeships and careers promises a cultural boom for Aberdeen yet funding is incredibly challenging right now. With more council cuts looming, we should not loose sight on the importance the arts has for community and the transformative experiences it can bring. #CulturalInvestment #VibrantCommunity https://lnkd.in/eS3eYsNm

Here's how one of the best stations in America does TV News.
Ready to get fired up? Carolyn Mungo recently posted WFAA's 75th anniversary special, and what a blast it was to watch. I made the mistake of clicking into the link below right before bedtime, and of course, had to watch it right to the end. So great to see investigative superstars Brett Shipp and Byron Harris back on Channel 8 along with loads of familiar faces who told the Texas story. Decades of really tremendous journalism produced by a dedicated staff with the highest standards. Makes you want to go out and stick a mic in someone's face. This was the team across the street from the stations where Jade Kurian (NBCUniversal's KXAS-TV among others) and I (KDFW-TV FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth) worked, and it's true that there's nothing more motivational than having really good competition. In Dallas, we were always motivated. What a tremendous TV market. Remembering #BELO, and respecting TEGNA. So much love for great journalism. https://lnkd.in/g7MEtM7F

CLASH OF THE TITANS FREE It was indeed a wonderful experience, serving as a judge alongside other judges in the just concluded 'Solution Theatrical Secondary School Drama Competition.' The grand finale which was held on the 1st of December, 2023, at Anglican Grammar School Onitsha, Anambra State was a top-notch compared to past contests which I also consider awesome. It was indeed strenuous and stressful as we (the judges) strived to allot deserving and accurate scores to the students /contestants of the five secondary schools that emerged champions from the past segments of the contests. It was indeed not an easy nut to crack, as the students rather improved their skills and performances, that the judges consider them all winners; but part of the rules of engagement in every contest demands the classification of contestants in hierarchical positions based on the nature of their performances, which consequently prompts the need to provide the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions... At last, at the end of the contest 🏆 champions were born. https://lnkd.in/d8p8hgqP

Our client the American Theatre Wing is the founder and co-presenter of the Tony Awards. The Wing also works year-round supporting creatives--and not just professionals. One of its signature programs is the Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative, which provides grants to under-resourced schools in the U.S. and individual scholarships for afterschool and summer training programs and students pursuing theatre in college. The Wing’s President and CEO Heather A. Hitchens told EdSource: "This is such a meaningful initiative for us at the Wing. From repairing an auditorium’s audio system so that productions can once again be amplified, to creating set-design apprenticeships between theatre companies and schools, the needs are specific and varied, and the results are real. Directly due to the programs of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative, more theatre and art is created by students who might not otherwise have this opportunity. Their education is being enhanced, as is the pipeline to careers in the theatre industry,” #theatre #artists #creative #entertainmentindustry #education #ceo #leadership #schools #broadway #production #culture #television #performance #broadcasting #communications #collegesanduniversities #strategiccommunications #equity
