Are the contractors on your project still struggling to source mineral wool? If so, please be careful to be sure they are NOT using acoustical bats. YES they are mineral wool, but they are not the right material for fire rated joints or firestop penetrations. Have a quick watch of this video and you might learn a little trick that I often use. https://lnkd.in/gP2ujsh5

Thank you! I personaly have the technical numbers for Thermafiber and Rockwool saved on my phone. I have called the manufacturer and confirmed my findings with contractors when I have had any trouble. A cool thing to know is that the technical data will have the PCF information for the sizes that they are offered in. A good example is Thermafiber SAFB, this product type offers 4 PCF mineral wool in 1” thickness and 2.5 PCF in 1-1/2” to 8” thicknesses. Even with this information you still want to ask if the material thickness was special ordered because that is an option per the data sheet. Paying close attention the the products and asking the right questions on-site can really help operations, and also helps clarify what materials are needed.
