Movember is a tremendous cause that is changing the face of men's health, purely existing to help men live happier, healthier and longer lives. With a focus on three worthy causes; 1) Mental Health and Suicide Prevention 2) Prostate Cancer 3) Testicular Cancer The purpose of this is not just to raise some money, but also to raise awareness and get men talking. Today, three of our colleagues, Martin, Lisa and Matt, are beginning the 3 peaks challenge to raise money for a Sarcoma UK research project, in memory of Martin’s wife, Win, who lost her life to leiomyosarcoma (LMS) in July 2021. Sarcomas are a rare type of cancer that originate in the bones and soft tissues, and can appear anywhere in the body. Sarcoma UK is a bone and soft tissue cancer charity that aims to increase awareness of Sarcoma, as well as funding research projects relating to Sarcoma, with 87 research projects funded and over £6.8 million already having been invested by the charity. The project our colleagues are fundraising for aims to identify new drugs that could improve outcomes for patients with LMS, a particularly rare sarcoma that develops in the smooth muscle cells, and for which there is currently no cure.
