5 Great Reasons Not to Install an HPS Pigging System Yes, you read that right. This week, I received some feedback from an end user (through a third party) letting us know they won’t be considering an HPS pigging system for their line. That’s fair—pigging isn’t right for every process or situation, and sometimes the business case doesn’t stack up. I get that. But here’s the kicker: the reason given was that they’re just going to accept the losses as they’re happy with how things are. This was before we’d had any meaningful conversation about their process, identified where or how much loss they’re facing, or even presented a solution, proposal, or business case. And this isn’t the first time. In fact, HPS once worked with a juice processing company. We showed how our solution could save them thousands of dollars with a quick payback period, but they chose to live with the losses. That business, unsurprisingly, no longer exists. So, here are 5 great reasons not to invest in an HPS pigging system: 1. Flushing perfectly saleable product (and profits) down the drain is fine by us! 2. Improving efficiency while costs are increasing? No thanks. 3. Environmental issues and sustainability aren’t important—water and energy are cheap, right? 4. Slow changeovers are manageable; just add another batch or shift to meet demand. 5. And the best one…“We’ve always done it this way.” If the above doesn’t sound like you, and you’re interested in proven, sustainable ways to increase operational efficiency and productivity, consider joining my colleague Peter Elgar on his upcoming webinar on November 13th. Alternatively, feel free to contact Peter or myself with questions or for a guide to pigging.
Great post! Who doesn't want to waste money these days? 🤔
Wow! Nice man and HPS. I am so interested in "We showed how our solution could save them thousands of dollars with a quick payback period" 👍 Could we talk more about this? 🤩

1moThis is a brilliant post Shaun Pitcher. If I hadn't experienced it myself I would have trouble believing it - a company says "We can accept these losses" - when the losses run into thousands of £s, $s €s or similar. In the current economic climate, the phrase 'acceptable losses', when there is no need to accept them, should not be in anyone's vocabulary.
