I recently penned an article exploring the growing discussions around changing Bangladesh’s national anthem titled "The Debate Over National Anthem: Should Bangladesh Revise 'Amar Sonar Bangla'?." This debate has gained momentum following remarks made by Abdullahil Aman Azmi, son of the late Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam, who questioned whether the anthem fully represents Bangladesh’s identity and independence. In my piece, I delve into both sides of the argument: Proponents of Change: - Highlight the anthem’s historical context, written before Bangladesh’s independence. - Argue that a new anthem could better reflect the nation’s sovereignty and struggle for liberation. - Suggest that the anthem doesn’t explicitly reference Bangladesh and instead evokes a broader Bengal. Opponents of Change: - Emphasize the anthem’s deep emotional and historical connection, especially its significance during the 1971 Liberation War. - Argue that the anthem’s poetic beauty and cultural heritage should remain untouched to preserve national identity. I also examine examples of other nations that have updated their anthems to better reflect their evolving identities, offering insights into how such changes can symbolize a nation's progress. Let’s embrace this as an opportunity for healthy, democratic discourse. Whether for or against the change, thoughtful dialogue can only strengthen our understanding of what binds us together as a nation. 🛑 Silence on Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh: Where Are the Voices? It’s heartbreaking 💔 to see the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, reports of violence, desecrated temples, and systemic persecution are deeply disturbing. And yet, there’s a deafening silence from those who claim to champion human rights and justice. I have to ask: where are the voices of Indian minorities and so called liberals and seculars who were so vocal for Gaza and Palestine? 🇵🇸 Why is there no outrage when Hindus in Bangladesh, our neighbors, face such brutal persecution? Isn’t humanity supposed to be universal? Is justice only selective? What’s even more painful is how we, as Hindus, often go out of our way to support these same minorities in India, even when they remain quiet on such issues. Isn’t it time for some self-reflection? Shame on us for not prioritizing the safety and dignity of our own community when it’s under attack. As for our government, it’s time for strong action! Whether through diplomatic pressure or decisive steps, akin to how Israel handles threats to its people, India must rise to the occasion. If necessary, India must consider taking bold steps, akin to Israel’s operations in Gaza, to ensure the safety and dignity of Hindus in Bangladesh. Proactive measures to protect them, be it through diplomatic pressure, international advocacy, or other assertive strategies, are not just necessary, they are imperative. The largest Hindu-majority country cannot afford to stay passive while Hindus in Bangladesh are under attack. Let me be clear, this is not about religion vs. religion. It’s about standing against injustice wherever it happens. The silence of many only emboldens those committing these atrocities. 🕊️ Let us all unite to demand justice, fairness, and protection for Hindus in Bangladesh. If we don’t speak up now, who will? What are your thoughts? How can India and the global community ensure that such violence ends? Kanwal Rekhi Amit Gupta Rtn. No Change to Bangladesh's National Anthem In recent discussions, it's been confirmed that there are no plans to alter Bangladesh's national anthem. According to AFM Khalid Hossain, the country's Religious Affairs Advisor, the anthem remains a vital part of Bangladesh's national identity and heritage. This affirmation underscores the significance of preserving cultural symbols that reflect the nation's history and values. Maintaining such traditions fosters unity and national pride among citizens. For those interested in the preservation of national symbols and their role in cultural identity, this development is a reminder of the importance of respecting and upholding historical legacies. #Bangladesh #NationalAnthem #CulturalHeritage #NationalIdentity #Preservation

Sometimes I reflect on how unfortunate the people of Bangladesh seem to be. Despite achieving independence more than 50 years ago, the nation remains entangled in endless disputes over its history. Fundamental questions like the exact number of lives sacrificed during the Liberation War, the mothers, sisters, and daughters who endured unimaginable suffering, and the fate of figures like Zahir Raihan remain unresolved. Even crucial events, such as who declared independence and who orchestrated the massacre of intellectuals on 14th December, are shrouded in controversy. Instead of honoring the sacrifices and moving forward, the nation remains trapped in mudslinging and endless debates over the past. This persistent chaos detracts from the real challenges of national progress and development. It pains those of us who genuinely wish for a better future for Bangladesh. Why do we continue to revisit and politicize these issues, dragging the nation backward, instead of uniting to uplift it into a prosperous and developed state?

HaPpY Independence Day ----------- What happened in Bangladesh is a stark reminder that the darker side of human will continue to surface if democracy is not firmly intertwined with secular values. After nearly a century of struggle, suffering, and immense sacrifice, we finally achieved our independence on this very auspicious day. We witnessed genocide, were battered and bruised, and while we have not forgotten, we have never sought revenge by killing innocents and the masses. We have a thriving democracy because of the strong institutions built by our great leaders and our enduring spirit of tolerance.. We see failed nations and democracies all around. China, for instance, has experienced the deaths of millions of its own people—through events like the Dzungar Genocide, the Taiping Rebellion, the Nanking Massacre, and the Cultural Revolution. As per one estimate, more than 45 million people have been killed in China due to internal repression. We are proud of our democracy and secular values. 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' is deeply ingrained in us. Whenever ugly communal forces attempt to rise from hibernation, we collectively dig deep and bury them. Let us collectively reaffirm every word of the Preamble, pledging to protect our great Constitution and its tenets. Let us celebrate our 78th Independence Day and the strength of our democracy. Mera Bharat Mahan. Jai Hind.🎊🙏♥️🎉 🖖💐✨ #HappyIndependenceDay, #15thAug,

"Bangladesh Lost Its Peace" Here's a message of hope and unity for the people of Bangladesh: "Today, we stand together in solidarity, praying for peace to prevail over politics. May the love and resilience of the Bangladeshi people guide towards a brighter future. Tomorrow, may we wake up to a nation where differences are celebrated, and diversity is embraced. May leaders prioritize the well-being of the people, and may communities come together in harmony. The day after, may we look back on these days as a turning point in our history, where we chose love over hate, and unity over division. May the spirit of Bangladesh's liberation war inspire us to fight for a better tomorrow, where every citizen can live with dignity and hope. Let us rise above political divisions and work towards a common goal – a peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious Bangladesh for all. May God bless nation and its people."
