When I visit my family in Texas, I always make a point to stop at Buc-ee's, Ltd. as we bounce between Austin and Waco. I know, right? Why would I be so crazy about going to a C-Store? Well, it can be summed up in a five-word phrase… Everything. Is. Bigger. In. Texas. From BBQ to Beaver Nuggets, an adorable mascot, and probably the largest wall of soda dispensers you’ve ever seen, Texas based Buc-ee's, Ltd. has truly evolved what it means to be a C-Store and has become a destination in itself. It’s simply massive. So it’s no surprise to see that the chain is attracting a higher share of weekend visits and a greater share of family households compared to its peers, as it has emerged as a favorite destination for families and individuals looking for somewhere to go on their days off. WALK ACROSS AMERICA 🇺🇸 DAY 36 31,992 steps Another installment of America’s favorite geographic-and-walking-specific Q&A game: “what’s walking life like in the regular world compared to that of the FL keys ⁉️” (Working title) Big box stores. I’m, like, a capitalist. But big box stores are a plague. When you’re from an area and stay in an area, you know “your” walmart, “your” best buy, “your” home depot. But when walking through a new area every day, you forget that they’re *literally* everywhere. The only difference between this one & that one are the faces of the lifeless employees inside, who often don’t appear to respond to physical stimuli. Dystopian. And I cannot be convinced otherwise. “Brady, they provide valuable services, employ tens of millions, stimulate the economy in ways you couldn’t imagine - all at massive scale - with prices you simply wouldn’t see at smaller mom & pop shops.” Yeah, whatever… nerd! Lol! 🤡 The keys just don’t have room (publix & winn-dixie & etc. are still there), but don’t tell them that - otherwise, with the help of special zoning from monroe county, we’ll see the world’s first floating walmart. I like little restaurants. And Bob’s Electronics. And Mexicans on the side of the road (best produce around, amigo). Seeing as you live for my unsolicited advice, my decree is that you shall minimize the dollars you fork over to corporations who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire (they hate you). Instead, give those dollars to me, The Big Dawg (whom’st loves you), so I can purchase cool trinkets and consume exotic meats from faraway lands. This is your objective. Do not fail me.
