As we mark the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and celebrate Human Rights Day today, we stand in solidarity with women and girls around the world and affirm: There is #NoExcuse for violence against women and girls. Did you know? • 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime. • 60% of female homicides are committed by partners or family members. • In 2023, a woman was killed by a partner or family member every 10 minutes. These statistics highlight the urgency of addressing gender-based violence (GBV). On this important day, we call on governments and leaders around the world to take decisive action to end GBV by: • Ending impunity by holding perpetrators accountable. • Adopting and implementing National Action Plans to end GBV. • Funding organizations that advocate for women’s rights and provide essential services to GBV survivors. Together, we can create a world where every woman and girl is safe, empowered, and free from violence. Starting today we join the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence and here is why we must act now! ⛔ Every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed . ⛔1 in 3 women will experience violence in her lifetime. ⛔51,100 women and girls were murdered by family members in 2023. ⛔Less than 1% of global aid is allocated to ending gender-based violence. Women’s rights organizations are leading the fight, yet they remain critically underfunded. Violence against women is a human rights violation. No woman or girl should endure harm simply because of her gender. Gender-based violence is NOT inevitable .It’s a choice society makes and together, we must end it. Gender-based violence is a global crisis, and femicide is its most brutal form driven by discrimination, power imbalances, and harmful stereotypes It’s time to take a stand. It starts with: ✔️ Supporting survivors. ✔️ Holding perpetrators accountable. ✔️ Funding women’s rights organizations. ✔️Advocate for zero tolerance of violence. ✔️Advocate for stronger laws and policies. Today, November 25th, is designated as "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women". It marks the beginning of "16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence". Gender-based violence touches lives in different ways. Some of us may have personal experiences, while others may not feel its impact as directly. Regardless, understanding and addressing violence and how it touches people's lives is a collective responsibility. As a member of Zonta Club of Singapore, we do our part to create awareness, foster understanding, and inspire action to build a safer world for women and girls. How do you see our role in addressing the challenges around violence? How do your experiences colour the way that you view this problem? If you are impacted personally, please do seek help. There is #NoExcuse, you are not to blame.

Women and girls everywhere are enduring the devastating, and all too often fatal, impacts of violence. Every year over 45,000 women lose their lives at the hands of those they should trust most, while 1 in 3 women globally experience physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime. Behind these numbers are real people – women with names, stories, and dreams. Across the world, women are standing united to say enough is enough. They are raising their voices to break down walls of shame and blame. Now is the time for: Speaking Out — Too many women suffer in silence at the hands of male violence. Accountability — we must see justice, not impunity. Dignity —Because shame belongs to perpetrators, never survivors. Stand with us. Share. Act. Demand change. #16Days #GlobalGoals #EndViolenceAgainstWomen Project Everyone

🧡 Today, we mark the International Day for Eliminating Violence Against Women. Behind every number is a story—a life impacted, a voice silenced, a future altered. Consider these realities: 🔸 1 in 3 women worldwide experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. 🔸 58% of women face online harassment, with 73% of female journalists enduring online violence. 🔸 1 in 5 girls experience sexual violence as children. 🔸 1 in 4 young women suffer abuse before age 25. 🔸 1 in 2 women in science report harassment at work. 🔸 In 2022, 89,000 women lost their lives to femicide. These are not just numbers. They are our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends. They are leaders, dreamers, change-makers. They deserve more than a world that looks away—they deserve action. 💡 #OrangeTheWorld is a call to end violence in all its forms, to amplify survivors' voices, to demand accountability, and to foster a culture of respect and equality. 🔸 Let’s reflect: What will you do to create a safer, fairer world for women and girls? Share your commitment below or tag someone who inspires you to stand up against violence. Together, we can rewrite these numbers and make a shift in history. #NoExcuse to violence against Women Yoel G Mbaruku Kapwani Kavenuke Giulia Tariello Jana Berchtold
