Not immigration related, it is great to see an informational video from the government featuring a tattooed speaker.
In the professional world, even in the society here that we consider that is more open-minded, tattoo is still a bit of a taboo, and I am talking about the harmless, not offensive ones. Picture someone with the keyword "professional", the person in your mind probably will not have any visible tattoo. Unconscious bias? Maybe.
I cover all my visible tattoos when meeting with clients. Hey maybe I am projecting how they feel about it, and maybe it is nothing that I should worry about. I am comfortable in my own skin, literally - I just can't afford to risk how my clients perceive me.
Today is also #CanadianMulticulturalismDay. We celebrate cultural diversity, we promote inclusiveness, and I hope we tap into that and bring back to our conscious image of a professional.
Well, it is still immigration related, or my not so smooth segue 😏
