It's a day of major events in the U.S. celebrating the life and engaging in service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King along with the presidential inauguration and likely signing of dozens of executive orders. Thus, I'll repost this article tomorrow, but I thought I'd share it today for those from other countries or who are using the day to review articles. The tremendous transfer of wealth was first noted decades ago and it's now transpiring. This article mentions a significant focus on philanthropy by Boomer women. I have a few questions: 1. Is this same transfer and focus occuring in countries outside of the U.S.? 2. What steps, if any, are charities in or outside the U.S. taking to reach out to these prospective donors, build relationships, and discuss current and/or estate gifts? 3. If you are a fundraising professional, what activity are you seeing or what advice do you have to offer with regard to collaborating with this group of donors? So Love Can Win Fund! from Akonadi Foundation. The fund will grant up to $500,000 in one round to organizations who seek to ignite and implement a radical collective vision of freedom and racial justice in Oakland. Akonadi will invest in efforts that uplift Oakland, foster togetherness and belonging, and move us towards inspiring collective action in service of a racially just Oakland. Round 1 will open Monday, May 6 and close on Friday, June 7, 2024. Applicants will be notified of So Love Can Win grant decisions by Wednesday, July 10. So Love Can Win provides general operating grants of $10,000 to organizations, initiatives, and projects in Oakland that employ the following strategies: local racial justice organizing, art and culture, healing and wellness, and journalism or narrative change.
