Yesterday, I had an interesting conversation with a consultant who works with a group of hotels. She was overseeing their phone system upgrade but admitted she wasn’t familiar with the intricacies of the hotel world. As she started asking about acronyms like GDS, OTA, and ADR, it was a great opportunity for me to put on my Hotelier hat and give her a mini session on why having the right technology—especially a good PMS—is essential for any hotel business. It struck me that if they were upgrading their phones, they were clearly looking for the best in technology. And that’s when it clicked—pivoting into hotel tech sales felt natural for me because my hotel career was built around identifying and delivering the best solutions for guests and operations alike. Throughout my career, sales has always been at the heart of what I do. As the initial sales manager for every hotel I opened, I developed and executed sales and marketing plans that directly drove success. That foundation gave me a deep understanding of client needs, which is invaluable in my current role in hotel technology sales. I’ve had many friends from hotel operations reach out, curious about making a similar move. If you’re considering a career change, I highly recommend hotel tech sales—it’s an exciting field where hospitality skills are incredibly valuable. I may be biased, but Mews is hands down the best property management system out there! If you’re ready to explore a new chapter, check out the roles we’re hiring for. You might be surprised how seamlessly your hospitality experience translates to this field. Let’s connect and chat about it! https://lnkd.in/ejw9-mWh

Today is the first day of a new quarter and I was reflecting on my days at a hotel worrying about meeting my numbers. 🔄 Hotel Salesperson vs. HelmsBriscoe Associate: The End-of-Quarter Difference 🔄 Hotel Salesperson: 🏨Focused on one property, driving to meet revenue targets specific to that hotel. 🏨Pressure to hit quotas, secure last-minute bookings, and manage availability. 🏨Bound by the constraints of one location, with limited flexibility in negotiating across markets. 🏨Dependent on property resources, with little control over their schedule. HelmsBriscoe Associate: 💼Represents multiple properties and destinations—giving clients a world of options. 💼Independent, with no quotas or hotel-specific limitations. Success is about building strong client relationships, not just filling rooms. 💼Flexibility to set your own schedule, manage multiple clients, and balance life in a way that works for you. 💼At the end of the quarter, you’re focused on delivering value to your clients rather than meeting property-specific targets. While both roles are essential to the hospitality industry, the life of an HB Associate offers more autonomy, unlimited earning potential, and the ability to work with a broader range of clients and partners. If you’re a Hotel Salesperson looking for more flexibility, the freedom to grow your own business, and the chance to work across a wider market, it might be time to consider HelmsBriscoe. 📈 Ready to see what’s possible? Join HelmsBriscoe and take control of your career. Message me to talk about next steps! #HelmsBriscoe #HotelSales #EndOfQuarter #CareerFlexibility #SalesLeadership #WorkLifeBalance #MeetingsAndEvents #JoinOurTeam

Milvas Burnice began her career as a Sales and Marketing intern at Villa Rosa Kempinski and Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara before being recruited as a Marketing Executive in the same hotel. In less than a decade, she has advanced to the position of Marketing Communications Manager at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill . This clearly demonstrates the value of investing in talent by institutions. Given the growing demand, competition and fast pace in the business environment, companies often resort to poaching rather than nurturing young talent for available roles. We advise companies to maintain at least two trainees in each department at all times for the reasons below: 1. Employers have an opportunity to observe and identify talent without the pressure of immediate hiring needs. 2. When hiring the trainee, the decision is more informed as employers have firsthand knowledge of trainees' capabilities from their training period. 3. As entry-level positions, trainees are more cost-effective than poached individuals in terms of salary. 4. Trainees are freshly entering the job market. It is easy for them to adopt to your company's culture thus more likely to align with the company’s values and goals. 5. Trainees bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table. They are new to the industry and have nothing to loose so they speak their mind. Managers should be open and ready to listen to them as they can bring innovation into processes and solutions, which can enhance the department’s operations. 6. Most trainees who are recruited to permanent positions within the company they have trained have a sense of loyalty and commitment which reduces turnover rates and the associated costs of recruitment and onboarding. 7. Trainees benefit by gaining valuable experience for their CVs and meeting their study requirements
