In board meetings, tabling a decision can be a strategic move to allow further discussion or gather more information. ⏸️ Have you ever witnessed or been part of a decision that was temporarily tabled, and what was the outcome? 🗳️ #AssociationDecisions #DecisionMaking #AssociationMeetings #Tabling

How long are your board meetings? There is no right answer to this question, but there are lots of considerations: If the meeting lasts all day, the chances are you have switched off long before the end. Does it really need to be this long? Could the papers be shortened to make it more efficient? Could you spread it over two days? Could you delegate some of the detail to a sub-committee? Do you always run out of time? Perhaps the meeting time needs to be extended, or the pack reduced, or does the chair need to shut down some of the excessive discussion? Does the meeting always run exactly to time, so everyone congratulates the chair? This is great if there has been adequate consideration and debate of the issues. But if the chair is so focussed on keeping to time they stop members from airing their views, this is not a success. What is your experience?
