This week is Loneliness Awareness Week and Darlington Hippodrome has launched Matinee Matters, a series of hosted, informal meet-ups at the theatre supported by Care Matters. These pre-show sessions will play an active role in helping tackle loneliness and self-isolation amongst people in the local community. Matinee Matters will enable like-minded people to chat, laugh, make new friends and share thoughts on a matinee performance at Darlington Hippodrome. Matinee matters sessions are free to attend and take place an hour before selected matinee performances at Darlington Hippodrome. The free session can be easily added to any ticket booking online, over the phone or in person at the Box office. We’re “Front Rowers” at Mass. It’s how I was raised, and it’s been so valuable to my life way beyond church attendance. I choose the front row everywhere I go.. classes, lectures, conventions, meetings… If there’s a front row seat open... I take it. It increases my attention. It drives a better understanding of the the topic being presented. It also allows me to support the speaker or presenter through my own engagement and potential questions. Ask any presenter and they will tell you they so appreciate the energy of the “Front Rowers”. It’s a strategy I’m modeling for our three sons. First in. Last out. Get engaged. Move outside of your comfort zone. Be bold. Be present. Be engaged! Choose the front row. It’s not for everyone I understand, but if you’re raised by me… it’s expected. When you’re off my payroll, you can choose the back row (but I bet you won’t). Parenting Mess to Launch Success!
