What's your favourite cocktail? 🍸 With the gorgeous sun, what better way to celebrate the bank holiday weekend then with a delicious drink in hand (I recognise it's 10:00am in London so don't worry, not drinking... yet 😉). 3 thoughts on cocktails... 1️⃣ Alcohol is the most important ingredient. Have you ever been given a cocktail that is so sickly sweet you can't finish it? A proper cocktail shouldn't disguise the alcohol but should celebrate it! 2️⃣ Cocktail making is an art form. I like coffee too and I'm a sucker for fancy coffee art on top of my flat white - it shows that they care and they've sprinkled a little bit of love into the drink. A cocktail is no different - it should look equally as beautiful as it tastes. 3️⃣ Consistency is key. How much do things REALLY cost? How much do we spend to learn a new trade or skillset? How much do we spend on things we consume (like coffee and dining out), when we can replace that one dinner with friends or (3) takeout lunches, to invest in something like a future business or personal profile? How long do we spend in decision paralysis, scrolling through 25 Netflix shows before deciding to go to bed? What could be done with that time? I decided to compare the cost of the digital course I put together to some popular items. I like Panera salads, too. Chicken Caesar is actually my go-to. Humbled to announce we bombed at our first food festival in years 😭(literally humbled, not LinkedIn-humbled). Whilst we were hot shit a couple of weeks ago selling out a comeback event for Moti Roti, we did not breakeven at this one. I want to keep chronicling this side mission and not shy away when things don’t go the way we planned for, as this is part of every startup’s arc. This is the early stage where every experiment is a fact-finding mission. Everything we do must invite failure, for failure tells us ‘oi, wrong way, this way’. On this occasion, I experimented with a 3 item menu to simplify decision-making (and because the smash burgers were the most popular item at the Brunchistan event). People who did try the food absolutely loved it, some went and brought their friends over, the problem we had was people in general passing us and not coming over (a ‘top of the funnel’ problem as we say in tech). When doing a retrospective, it’s really common to get attached to a prevailing theory, especially if skewed by the loudest voice in the room😂 Here, I opened up to feedback from other f&b owners, customers, friends - there were many theories: - Poor location at the event - Weather was too hot - The stand was not as nice looking as the other outlets - It’s a not the target market for smash burgers Honestly it could be a combination or none of these. We will keep a/b testing until we’re knocking it out of the park. That’s the process and i’m good with it🙏🏽

Meanwhile, Swiggy’s got Bolt, and Zepto’s brewing Café. At this rate, my next cappuccino might arrive faster than my morning yawn. Quick commerce is heating up, and I'm just here with popcorn.
