For me, diversity is what truly makes a workplace special. I experienced this when I worked in an office that felt like a little global village. People from different countries, cultures, ages, religions, and backgrounds all came together. It was incredible to see how everyone's unique experiences and perspectives shaped the environment. You could hear all kinds of English accents, and every conversation felt like a window into a new world. During lunch breaks, talking to a colleague felt like visiting a whole new country. At social gatherings at colleagues' homes, I got to experience their culture through their food, hospitality, traditional dress, and the way they made you feel welcome. It was like getting to know a new culture without leaving the city. My advice to everyone, when you decide to apply for any job, evaluate the work environment and see if it really promotes diversity and inclusivity. Diversity is not just about having different people around; it’s about what each person brings to the table. Even local staff, from different parts of Jordan, show you different sides of the culture, you get to experience Jordan heritage in every interaction, and it adds so much to your day-to-day work. Different ways of thinking, different approaches, different stories, and different personalities make the workplace dynamic and exciting. People with disabilities also bring something special. Their strength and resilience are truly inspiring. You quickly realize that your own challenges are small compared to what they face, and that motivates you to push forward. You learn so much from their determination and positivity. Diversity creates an environment where lasting relationships are built. It teaches you how culture influences people’s interactions, reactions, and beliefs. By embracing diversity, you learn to appreciate different perspectives and discover creative ways to solve problems when people of all ages, from seniors to juniors, work together. Diversity is the perfect environment to nurture great leaders. It’s a place where things flow smoothly, and results are achieved through collaboration. But this only works if you’re a good cultural fit, meaning you’re respectful, open-minded, and willing to adapt to new ideas and different ways of doing things. 😊 #Leadership #Diversity #PersonalGrowth #NGOs #UN #USAID #LINKEDIN

🌟 Today, I had the privilege of attending the MOSAIC network meeting at Department of Resources (Queensland), a powerful forum dedicated to our CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community. The key focus of our discussion was Multicultural Month and how we, as ENABLERS, can actively promote the embrace of cultural diversity. Our conversations delved into the development of CALD frameworks that not only educate but also raise awareness. We highlighted the importance of embedding culturally safe practices, policies, and respectful attitudes in our everyday operations. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their cultural background. A special mention to Gobind Kalsi, Executive Director Reform Strategy & Delivery Lead, who became our New Executive Champion for our Mosaic network and our lovely Diversity and Inclusive team @Teresa Brennan Manager Inclusion and Diversity, Thérèse Roe, Andrew Eggins shared valuable insights on the different types of cultural blindness, bias and what leads to uncomfortable cultural dynamics. Other members shared why and how top leadership team needs to support this and how this forum can help us contribute in advance to support those leaders who connect Resources at various international forums which will really help to make better connections and enhance International relationships demonstrating our passion to learn every culture. Attended by more than 20 representatives both online and offline, we had employees representing various cultures. One key point of discussion was understanding and managing cultural load and how collaboratively everyone with an intention can take small steps to understand and respect other cultural identities. We have many initiatives planned to ensure safety, mental well-being, and a culturally safe environment – responsibilities that lie with all of us. The mantra of the day was "Unlearn and Relearn" – challenging and eliminating set biases to foster an inclusive workplace. It’s time to start self-learning and be thoughtful as we progress because we are all accountable. My question is bias really addressed?? Stay tuned for more updates! #Diversity #Inclusion #MulticulturalMonth #CulturalDiversity #CALD #Resources #makeadifference 😉

Breaking Barriers: Unity in Diversity As a professional committed to bridging cultural divides, I want to share an important perspective on workplace inclusivity and understanding. In today's global workforce, we often encounter misconceptions about immigration and job opportunities. The truth is, diversity strengthens our professional ecosystem, not weakens it. Cultural differences can be our greatest strength • Collaboration transcends ethnic backgrounds Personal Reflection: I've witnessed how African Americans and African immigrants can transform workplace dynamics when we Listen to each other's stories, Recognize shared aspirations, Celebrate our unique perspectives Success is not about who takes jobs, but how we create opportunities together. My journey has taught me that understanding begins with empathy, respect, and open communication. Let's connect! 🤝🇭🇹🇯🇲🌍

We all want to be included but wouldn't it be amazing if we felt like we belonged & Isn't belonging greater than inclusion? Belonging goes beyond just being included; it's about feeling valued and accepted for who you are. Diversity in teams brings a wealth of perspectives and experiences that drive innovation and creativity. Similarly, kindness truly is a universal language that transcends barriers. It's a good way to embrace diversity in the workplace. We've seen odd teams of all kinds in the workplace. The world is full of diversity of people from different ethnicities, nations and genders. Many organization thrives with teams of different nationalities, religions, races, cultures, countries, etc. But, somehow we ALL get it when it comes to animals. We can learn collaboration and team spirit from animals. In a time when the world seems to getting more divided every day, how about we appreciate oneness. It's hard to be an immigrant. I moved to the United States eight years ago, and in the beginning I wore rose-colored glasses. I believed I had accomplished so much — building a successful career, owning a home, and starting a family. I thought I had achieved the 'American Dream.' But as time passed, I realized those glasses kept me from seeing the full reality Recently, I faced a deeply traumatic experience. After raising a concern about a manager's comment that I needed to be more American and "learn more about American culture" to get promoted, I faced retaliation. Suddenly, with no clear indication that any investigation even took place, I found myself without a job. Recently, after an interview for a new position, I was told that my accent might hinder my success in the role. It's disheartening to realize that some people still hold such narrow-minded views, especially in a country that prides itself on diversity. But here's the thing: It's on them. I wouldn't want to work with anyone who calls themselves a professional but cannot see beyond their own biases. And let me be clear—this is not all about me. It's about the millions of immigrants who, like me, leave everything behind to build a new life here. I share my story in the hope that others won’t have to face the same struggles. Let’s work together to create a world where everyone's contributions are valued, regardless of where they come from. #ImmigrantStories #AmericanDream #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceEquity #HRCommunity #CareerJourney #GratitudeOvercomingChallenges #ImmigrantExperience #InclusiveWorkplace #SupportImmigrants #CulturalDiversity #EqualOpportunities #HumanResources #Resilience #NoToDiscrimination

Most of us never consider how culture shapes our expectations and assumptions about relationship building. But research shows that our cultural upbringing influences how we form and maintain connections with others — often quite significantly. This article identifies six core elements of the relationship code: where relationship building takes place, who can initiate relationships with whom, what kinds of relationships people attempt to form, what types of personal information people share, how people present themselves in the early stages of getting acquainted, and how quickly we expect to establish a working sense of trust and rapport. These elements are at the root of the confusion and misunderstanding that can occur when people attempt to build relationships across cultures. By paying attention to these six elements, global workers will gain insight into why things may “feel different” when getting to know their colleagues. They may even discover they have more in common with their colleagues than they thought. #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging
