Yesterday, I attended Opportunity Day in Gothenburg, and it really got me thinking about how much progress we’re making toward Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace. 💡 Earlier, I was at Jobbfestivalen - Tema Mångfald & Inkludering in Stockholm, which had a similar focus—and I couldn’t help but wonder: How many other great events or organizations are out there that we haven’t even heard of yet? 🤔 It’s exciting to see so much momentum, but I know there’s always more to learn and more connections to be made. If you know of any other hidden gems working on diversity in Sweden, drop a comment or tag them below. Because the more we share, the more we grow. 🌱 What events or initiatives should we be paying attention to? What should international talent be paying attention to? Your recommendation could be the next big thing for someone looking for inclusive growth. #DiversityMatters #InclusionInAction #SwedenWorkplace #EqualOpportunities #ShareAndConnect

🌟 Today, I had the privilege of attending the MOSAIC network meeting at Department of Resources (Queensland), a powerful forum dedicated to our CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community. The key focus of our discussion was Multicultural Month and how we, as ENABLERS, can actively promote the embrace of cultural diversity. Our conversations delved into the development of CALD frameworks that not only educate but also raise awareness. We highlighted the importance of embedding culturally safe practices, policies, and respectful attitudes in our everyday operations. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their cultural background. A special mention to Gobind Kalsi, Executive Director Reform Strategy & Delivery Lead, who became our New Executive Champion for our Mosaic network and our lovely Diversity and Inclusive team @Teresa Brennan Manager Inclusion and Diversity, Thérèse Roe, Andrew Eggins shared valuable insights on the different types of cultural blindness, bias and what leads to uncomfortable cultural dynamics. Other members shared why and how top leadership team needs to support this and how this forum can help us contribute in advance to support those leaders who connect Resources at various international forums which will really help to make better connections and enhance International relationships demonstrating our passion to learn every culture. Attended by more than 20 representatives both online and offline, we had employees representing various cultures. One key point of discussion was understanding and managing cultural load and how collaboratively everyone with an intention can take small steps to understand and respect other cultural identities. We have many initiatives planned to ensure safety, mental well-being, and a culturally safe environment – responsibilities that lie with all of us. The mantra of the day was "Unlearn and Relearn" – challenging and eliminating set biases to foster an inclusive workplace. It’s time to start self-learning and be thoughtful as we progress because we are all accountable. My question is bias really addressed?? Stay tuned for more updates! #Diversity #Inclusion #MulticulturalMonth #CulturalDiversity #CALD #Resources #makeadifference 😉

Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging! Diversity is a must not a nice to have in today's global career world. It is a driver for the important sense of belonging at work. "Diversity can empower your team by making it easier to attract and retain top talent. In fact, 69% of Millennial and Gen Z workers are likely to stay five or more years with a company that has a diverse workforce. Diversity has become a priority for many individuals as they look for a new job." https://lnkd.in/drQVkr6P As Brené Brown states "Belonging means being part of something bigger but also having the courage to stand alone, and to belong to yourself above all else." As many of us lead intercultural lives we sometimes get caught up in the need to fit in, to be a part of something, and we may forget the great importance of belonging to ourselves. It lies in our nature to crave connection and to belong to communities - it is human nature. International life will remind us to stay true to our roots and to our new (inter)cultural experiences as they play a crucial part in our identity, uniqueness, and authenticity. Reflecting: How do we see ourselves currently? What is our Cultural identity? How do we belong in our Host country? How can we cultivate our cultural identity and live a global life? In a professional and private context - we need to be aware of belonging as an act and as a space. Who owns the space and what are we all doing to encourage belonging for all? A good question to ask ourselves: WHAT am I taking RESPONSIBILITY for? Good question to ask the collective: What are WE taking RESPONSIBILTY for? Therefore, Belonging is individual as much as it is collective. It is a sense, an act, and a space we hold or are a part of. It is an act of longing to be. TALENT VS OPPORTUNITY:: THE UNTOLD STORY. Talent is universal, but when it comes to opportunity, the playing field is far from level. It's a reality that we often overlook in our discussions about success and achievement. We celebrate individuals for their exceptional talents, their skills, and their abilities, but we often forget that these talents are only part of the equation. In a world where opportunity is not equally distributed, it's essential to acknowledge the immense impact it has on one's journey. Many individuals possess incredible talent, but without the right opportunities, their potential remains untapped, their dreams unrealized. We often hear stories of individuals who have overcome tremendous obstacles to achieve greatness. They embody the resilience, determination, and drive to succeed against all odds. But behind their stories lies a deeper truth: that they were fortunate enough to encounter the right opportunities that allowed their talents to shine. Imagine a world where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, had equal access to opportunities. Imagine the untapped potential that could be unleashed, the innovations that could be brought to life, and the positive impact it would have on our society. As individuals, we have a responsibility to advocate for equal opportunity, to break down the barriers that prevent talent from flourishing. We must strive to create inclusive environments that value diversity, where everyone has a fair chance to showcase their abilities and contribute to their full potential. Opportunity comes in many forms. It can be the access to quality education, mentorship, networking, or even a chance encounter with the right person at the right time. We must actively seek out and create these opportunities for others, extending a helping hand to those who may not have had the same privileges or advantages. Let's remember that talent is not confined to a select few; it exists in every corner of the world. It's our collective responsibility to ensure that talent is nurtured and given the platform it deserves. By championing equal opportunity, we can unlock the true potential of individuals, foster innovation, and create a more inclusive and equitable society. So, the next time we celebrate talent, let's also reflect on the importance of opportunity. Let's strive for a world where talent is not limited by circumstance, where everyone has the chance to thrive and make a difference. Together, let's rewrite the untold story of talent and opportunity. #TalentVsOpportunity #EqualOpportunity #Inclusion #Diversity #UnlockingPotential

In too many companies it doesn’t exist a multicultural programme to enhance appreciation towards human diversity. This video is only a reminder & I am aware that I will not change anything with it. At the same time, the theme is that it isn’t enough to attract talents from different cultures, the part which matters most is HOW these humans feel in a specific working environment, if they really FEEL appreciated for their uniqueness & if they feel INTEGRATED in that specific working context. #hrrevolution

🌟BELONGING🌟 💭 Have you ever stopped to ponder the significance of belonging? It’s more than just fitting in; it’s about feeling seen, valued, and appreciated for who you are at your core. Let’s delve deeper into this profound concept and explore its impact on our lives. 💡 🌱 Belonging is like a nurturing soil that allows us to grow and thrive personally and professionally. It creates a sense of connection that fuels our passion and drive to excel. In a world filled with constant change and uncertainty, having a strong sense of belonging can be our anchor, grounding us in times of upheaval. 🌌 When we feel like we belong, we are more confident, creative, and innovative. Our unique perspectives are celebrated, and we are empowered to bring our authentic selves to the table. It fosters a culture of inclusivity and diversity, where everyone's voice is not only heard but valued. 🌻 Belonging goes beyond the superficial; it’s about creating a safe space where individuals can express themselves freely without fear of judgment. It's hard to be an immigrant. I moved to the United States eight years ago, and in the beginning I wore rose-colored glasses. I believed I had accomplished so much — building a successful career, owning a home, and starting a family. I thought I had achieved the 'American Dream.' But as time passed, I realized those glasses kept me from seeing the full reality Recently, I faced a deeply traumatic experience. After raising a concern about a manager's comment that I needed to be more American and "learn more about American culture" to get promoted, I faced retaliation. Suddenly, with no clear indication that any investigation even took place, I found myself without a job. Recently, after an interview for a new position, I was told that my accent might hinder my success in the role. It's disheartening to realize that some people still hold such narrow-minded views, especially in a country that prides itself on diversity. But here's the thing: It's on them. I wouldn't want to work with anyone who calls themselves a professional but cannot see beyond their own biases. And let me be clear—this is not all about me. It's about the millions of immigrants who, like me, leave everything behind to build a new life here. I share my story in the hope that others won’t have to face the same struggles. Let’s work together to create a world where everyone's contributions are valued, regardless of where they come from. #ImmigrantStories #AmericanDream #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceEquity #HRCommunity #CareerJourney #GratitudeOvercomingChallenges #ImmigrantExperience #InclusiveWorkplace #SupportImmigrants #CulturalDiversity #EqualOpportunities #HumanResources #Resilience #NoToDiscrimination
