Our review has finally been published in Trends in Food Science & Technology! This review is the icing on the cake of our work in wine sample classification, authentication, and analysis methods using various GCxGC systems. We began by examining the content of VOCs, followed by developing a flow-modulated GCxGC system for enantiomer separation, and applying cryo-modulated GCxGC techniques. Additionally, we developed and applied various statistical tools for processing 2D chromatograms. Throughout our work, we questioned whether the GC technique is always necessary, and we concluded that it is not! We demonstrated this by authenticating wines using web cameras and smartphones, alongside statistical analysis of the resulting digital images and histograms. Food packaging protects our food against oxygen attack, water vapor and ultraviolet light to maintain quality. It furthermore creates a layer in direct contact with the product to prevent chemical and microbiological contamination. Surface properties in general and surface charges play a key role in characterizing “intelligent” foils for food packaging. Anton Paar's SurPASS 3 is equipped with a titration unit that determines the zeta potential via streaming potential measurements to develop, analyse and control surface modifications. In parallel coating suspensions used for surface modifications are analyzed with the Litesizer 500 using electrophoretic light scattering (ELS) technology. These certified control drink flasks are designed to equate, in terms of capacity, an empty, dry container. The flasks, when properly filled, will hold the exact same content as a bottle and can be used to check proportioning accuracy. The contents can also be used to check brix, color, acidity, and other comparative values. Serially numbered with “certified” lab certificates enclosed. All flasks are Pyrex and are individually calibrated with water “TO CONTAIN,” using standards certified by the National Institute of Science and Technology to assure maximum accuracy and maintain tolerances.
