Talc depressant test case for molybdenum ore: 1. Weigh the required weight of the ore sample, about 600g; 2. Pour the ore sample into the ball mill, add appropriate amount of water, and grind it to the fineness required for the experiment; 3. Prepare the ore flotation reagent and prepare the talc depressant D417 solution; 4. Carry out the flotation experiment without adding talc depressant D417, the foam color is white, scrape the foam; 5. The flotation experiment of the control group with talc depressant D417, the foam color is clean and shiny, scrape the foam; 6. After the flotation, the pulp, concentrate and tailings are filtered separately to obtain relatively dry solids. It can be seen that the color of the concentrate is contrasted; 7. After the solid is filtered, it is taken out after drying and crushed into powder. Mix evenly and take samples. 8. Put the selected samples into the grinder for grinding. The barite ore deposits are extensive, but the quality of the raw barite varies across different regions. For instance, at a barite processing plant of our client's in China, the S.G. of the raw ore is only 3.6. Additionally, the grain size of the barite is quite fine. The grinding circuit, consisting of a SAG mill, ball mill, and hydrocyclone, is crucial in mineral processing, particularly for ore comminution and the preparation of feed for flotation and leaching. An optimized grinding circuit directly influences the performance of downstream processes by controlling particle size distribution, which impacts mineral liberation, recovery rates, and reagent consumption. The SAG mill initiates size reduction by grinding ore with steel media. It handles variable ore hardness and reduces material to a manageable size for the ball mill. The ball mill further grinds the ore to a fine size, essential for mineral liberation, operating in a closed circuit with a hydrocyclone, which classifies the material. The hydrocyclone plays a pivotal role in ensuring the proper particle size is fed to flotation or leaching circuits, enhancing overall process efficiency. Proper grind size, typically measured by P80, is critical. Over-grinding can lead to excessive fines or slimes, which hinder froth flotation by increasing reagent consumption and reducing recovery. Conversely, well-optimized grind size enhances flotation kinetics and selectivity, improving concentrate grades. In leaching circuits like CIL or CIP, fine grinding enhances leaching kinetics, exposing more gold for cyanide dissolution. However, excessive fines can affect solution flow and increase reagent use.
