The retail sector's purpose is to provide what customers need and want, and to achieve that it must understand what's demanded. Significant progress have been made in technology that vary from taking the lead to providing support in the industry. I liked Sharon Yourell Lawlor's take on this in her talk at this year's shopping centre congress - technology must be an enabler that helps shoppers with choices, and shouldn't be employed just to tick a box. It should be quiet and intuitive. There's much to explore here regarding the physicality of bricks and mortar, and the use of technology in shopping centres.
