Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA)’s Post

Earlier today, our Executive Director, Keiran Craig-Jones, met with the 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 to discuss the proposed short-term rental accommodation (STRA) tax, announced in the ACT 2024-25 Budget and set to take effect on 1 July 2025. It is a breath of fresh air to see the ACT Government engaging with the Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA) as a key industry stakeholder. This collaborative approach is a stark contrast to the process undertaken by the Victorian Government, and we commend the ACT Government for prioritising open dialogue with key stakeholders in the STRA industry. We are looking forward to continue strengthening our relationship with the ACT Government and look forward to working together to ensure fair and effective outcomes for both the industry and the community in 2025. 📩 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: 📌Key discussion points from the meeting 📖Important factors about the ACT STRA tax legislation ⏳Next steps, including key dates and actions Our members continued engagement will play a vital role as we move forward together with the ACT government.
