Navigating the complexities of today's labour market requires not just resilience, but a forward-thinking approach. The scarcity of skilled and experienced workers in our field has prompted us to look beyond traditional methods. At LB Scaffolding, we're turning challenges into opportunities by integrating advanced mechanical aids, such as the Geda hoist, into our operations. This strategic move not only mitigates the burden of manual labour but also empowers us to cultivate a leaner, more adept team. Our focus is on quality over quantity, ensuring that each team member brings a wealth of experience and dynamism to the table. The adoption of such innovations allows us to extend the professional life of our veteran workforce, fostering a rich environment where knowledge is shared and tradition meets innovation. For our clients, this translates into more efficient and cost-effective scaffolding solutions, particularly for complex high-rise structures. Our dedication to working smarter is about more than just efficiency; it's about building a sustainable, knowledgeable, and versatile team capable of exceeding the highest standards of safety and service. Join us as we redefine the scaffolding landscape. #LBScaffolding #InnovationInConstruction #WorkSmartNotHard #ScaffoldingSolutions #FutureOfWork https://lnkd.in/gQpmEcWi

"How much will that cost? Ball park? Just roughly?" I get asked this quite often as a brickwork contractor. I cannot answer that. If you send me the working drawings and I will give you exact numbers and break down of what the price includes. Anything else is guess work and I am not in the business of throwing random numbers about. Clarity is king. Every job comes with its own unique specification. Whats the pointing? What are the materials? Is it labour only or supply and fit? Whats the access like? Forklift? How do you operate as company? What are the payment terms? Whats the build shedule? What size gang do you need? So many factors. Random guess work only leaves both parties in a bad position. Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments. Keen for feed back on this one. Left a comment on this post but going to post it in a quoted re-share as I think it's important. My response: 1000% agree. It's the same in the media and video industry. "How much will it cost" - well, this depends on what kit you want, how many hours you need me for, the deliverables [photos, video edits, instagram reels], how many hours editing it will take for all the deliverables (which are extra hours outside the on-location filming), how far away is the project, do we need to rent any additional kit to achieve your desired results, is the location near an airport and do we need to spend (usually around 6) extra hours (if not more) getting permissions to fly the drone, etc, etc. Will I do that for free? Unfortunately not, sorry. Do you want ownership rights to all the content, do we need to store all the original files in-house on additional harddrives for you 'incase you want to use it in the future' or would you prefer to purchase your own in-house harddrive, the list goes on and on. All essential questions we can cover over a zoom call, to go away and price up an estimate ✍️ I'm sure it's the same for every industry out there - but in this instance filming is very very similar to construction. The 'materials' are the deliverables, hours, and kit required. If you give a whole cost with a breakdown of options and prices, prospective clients can get confused, if you ask a budget they sometimes get annoyed. "What if you charge me more?" Our rates will never change depending on the company. Big company or small. But the brief and what you need, does. We're about providing value and producing fantastic results, and it's essential we have the info we need to achieve this. Would love to hear the opinions of my network on this one, too! Keen for feedback and thoughts.

Now a days, toppling of I-girders became very common incidences which needs to be controlled by the all concern. Three I-Girder on under construction bridge over river Manair near Peddapalli in Telangana toppled down on 22nd/23rd night. Luckily no loss of life. In the photo, it can be seen, there is no support for two remain girders in erected position. Toppling of I -girders is always due to negligence. Provision of side support is not a rocket engineering or a costly devise to make the girders safe. Every concern knows how to make the girders safe even then why incidences of toppling is not stopped. For further information, all safety precautions have been mentioned in a technical paper published in Indian Highways in Jan 2022 volume for the safety of I-Girders. Now question is: - how much contractor have saved by not providing side supports and how much loose after toppling. Contractor should learn a lesson from past incidences. How contractor was allowed erection of second girder without making safe the first one. Why client or engineer in-charge have not pointed out the issue. Are they more interested to set up a high-level enquiry.

I call this one “It’s 7:04am, there’s fourteen guys on-site standing around like little league outfielders, it’s raining, and the first sequence steel delivery truck broke down 164 miles from the site (some time last night)” This post is delayed by a couple weeks, but due to personal/home reasons I have resigned my position with SS20 building systems. It was an incredibly difficult decision that I probably waited too long to make. I would like to thank SS20 for the most incredible professional years of my career. You believed in me, supported me, cared about me, mentored me, inspired me, paid the shit out of me, and showed me just how good a workplace can be. I have never worked for, and with, such an awesome group of dedicated professionals. Casey, Wendy, Wes, Emil, Casey2.0, Dona, Lauren, CT, George, Chris and Tammy Woodward and the Woodward family- Thank you! Subcontractors and customers- the best in the world. I learned so much about self-storage and structural steel from all of you. I can’t thank you enough for your time, effort, support, patience, and your business. Straight facts from an ex-insider: If you’re developing a self storage building, there’s not a structural steel fabricator and erector I would trust more than SS|20 Building Systems. This is a company with integrity, expertise, and the financial stability to get the job done right. Their GM Casey P. Morey is ridiculously good, give him a call. They also have an excellent core group of subcontractors. Not any easy thing to build. I have always been impressed with foundational principles and character guiding the operations at SS20. Second-to-none. If you really want to know what kind of company SS20 is, it’s pretty obvious based on the one standing order given me by the owner of the company on the day I was hired- “Don’t ever lie to anybody, we can work out a lot, but dishonesty will get you fired quick”. Honesty, fairness, and true care for the client’s interests pervades the SS20 ship from steerage to the captains table. Go with SS20, they may not always be your lowest bidder, but their performance and knowledge will probably save you money in the end. Me? I’m working out some baggage I’ve been carrying for a lot of years. The course of my life was charted 20 years ago by a 3/4-crazy alcoholic in both drunk and dry periods. My life became Amarillo by Morning. They took my saddle in Houston, broke my leg in Santa Fe, lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way. I just had to step off this roller-coaster at this point nearly 3 years sober in recovery, and reassess where I am and where I want to go. I’m going to walk the earth for a bit, get in therapy, spend time with my 9yo daughter, trust God, and see where the universe takes me. I have presently jumped out of the proverbial airplane without a parachute…but I needed to. I have a feeling everything is going to be just fine. Thank you all with all my heart. Never stop building! 🫡 -Andrew DeForest
