Northbound optimizes the flow of goods from port to warehouse, considering penalty fees (Demurrage and Detention / “D&D”), capacities, and delivery promises. 🤝 We at Schenker Ventures are happy to support Northbound with close collaboration with DB Schenker's Ocean Freight department to gain insights into the root causes behind D&D fees and to provide pilot projects in contract logistics for the early software version. Here we go again? To put it in perspective - Flexport raised a US$20mn Series A, Convoy Inc raised US$16mn. More recently Altana raised a $7mn seed in 2020. What about Kpler? They were bootstrapped until 2022 when they raised over $200mn. Just because generalist AI players are raising huge amounts to build fluffware as they ride the AI hype-train, it doesn't mean this should become our new reality. I've read and re-read everything I can find on Auger. The things that they say it will do... feels like they are already being done? ➡️ integrate deeply with existing systems ➡️ use AI to automate routine processes ➡️ deliver a cohesive user experience that feels intuitive and natural Routine processes being automated and working from exceptions is already a reality for many BCOs and Forwarders that I've had the pleasure of speaking with. I acknowledge automation continues to elude many others. But for how much longer? This all feels a bit "late to the party". Logistics company Shadowfax is nearing a Rs 350-400 crore funding round, which could increase its valuation to Rs 5,500-6,000 crore. Initially, the firm planned to raise $30-35 million, but with its upcoming IPO and growing involvement in quick commerce, the funding target was expanded. Domestic family offices, mutual funds, and high net-worth individuals (HNIs) are expected to participate in the round. Wealth management firms like Nuvama Group and InCred Financial Services are also in discussions to join this capital raise. Lalit Keshre-led Groww, a Bengaluru-based stock brokerage platform, reached a major milestone of 12.59 million active users in October, adding 350,000 users in just a month. This surge further solidifies Groww's lead over its main competitor, Zerodha, which has 8.06 million active users. Since overtaking Zerodha last year, Groww has retained its top position, nearly doubling its user base over the past year. Angel One, with 7.53 million users, closely follows in third, while Upstox and ICICIDirect round out the top five. Continuing its funding spree, quick commerce major Zepto has raised another $350 Mn (about INR 2,950 Cr) in a round led by Motilal Oswal’s private wealth division👇 The round also saw participation from domestic high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), family offices, and financial institutions, including Taparia Family Office, Mankind Pharma Family Office, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, Cello Family Office. Besides, the likes of Haldiram Snacks Family Office, Sekhsaria Family Office, Kalyan Family Office, Happy Forgings Family Office, Mothers Recipe Family Office, celebrities Abhishek Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar also pumped capital in the round. In a statement, Zepto said that the round was raised entirely from domestic investors.
