It is expected to register a CAGR of 6.9% during 2023-2030. In automobiles, wire harnesses weigh around 100-150 lbs depending on the size and vehicle model. Heavier the wire, higher the weight of equipment. In industries such as aerospace, weight is matter of concern. Due to this, aircraft manufacturers are looking for lightweight wire harness by using lightweight connectors, clamps, etc. Further, lightweight wire harness reduces the vehicle exhaust emission and fuel consumption. Moreover, the countries, such as China and Japan are more into the production of miniaturization of OEMs. The semiconductor sector has been experiencing severe shortages since 2020. Therefore, considering all effects of the pandemic, the overall wire harness market was somewhat negatively impacted. However, several markets have reopened since 2021. Factories have resumed their work, and almost all the industries have begun production again. Consequently, the demand for wire harnesses is expected to rise globally during the forecast period. Manufacturers of various semiconductors components, which are used in wire harnesses, had to experience delays in lead time owing to the pandemic, which negatively impacted the wire harness market in 2020 and 2021. The semiconductor sector has been experiencing severe shortages since 2020. The #automotive market is moving at a rapid pace and needs real-time solutions to keep up with the quality and technology the public expects. In turn a process such as silver sintering serves as an enabling technology which will further facilitate automotive engineers move to SiC (silicon carbide) materials. “Silver sintering is indispensable. You cannot extract the potential of SiC-MOSFET-based semiconductors without having the speed of processing, the surface compliance, the heat transfer capability and power cycling reliability that nano engineered silver sintering provides. SiC power modules can run reliably at higher temperatures because the components are connected by silver sintering. This has a beneficial cascading effect. On one hand, the fact that you are using SiC-MOSFETs enables you to drive motors with higher efficiency. The fact that you are driving a motor at higher efficiency means you will consume less kilowatts per hour for the distance and this means battery capacity can be reduced. The advantage of this reduced battery capacity is lower vehicle weight and production costs. Another interesting aspect is that SiC power modules, where silver sintering is used, can run at higher temperatures. Coolants that operate at a higher temperature have a greater delta with respect to ambient, thus requiring less heat exchanging area to achieve equivalent heat transfer and facilitate the integration of relatively simple cooling systems with the power module. This more efficient way of running creates a disproportionate net positive cyclic improvement on the whole vehicle. These improvements are surely helping the acceleration, but they are complimentary and not necessarily always the main drivers. Exploring the Cutting-Edge Applications of Micronas' High-Speed Hall Effect Sensors Hall effect sensors detect magnetic fields and convert them into electrical signals, commonly used to determine the position, speed, and movement of objects in various applications.Some important applications include Automotive, industrial automation, consumer electronics, medical devices, renewable energy, aerospace, robotics, and telecommunications. Micronas has introduced two high-speed automotive Hall effect magnetic angle sensors, the HAL 3020 and HAL 3021, operating up to 150,000rpm. These sensors provide robust motor position detection, ISO 26262 compliance, and feature differential or single-ended analog outputs with open-circuit detection. The HAL 3021 excels in mechanical tolerance and supports smaller magnets, while the HAL 3020 offers lower power consumption. Both sensors, defined as SEooC ASIL C ready, include diagnostics like overvoltage and wire-break monitoring. They operate on the rotational axis with six Hall bridges, ensuring signal accuracy. Programmable EEPROM allows for customizable settings. Operating from 3.0V to 5.5V and up to 160°C, they are ideal for brushless DC motors, starter-generators, electronic valves, and pumps.
