🤒🌱 Do you know what an "inflection point" of a plant is? 👩🏻🏫☀️ In our latest #PhenoRob demonstrator video, Annaliese Mason defines the inflection point as the threshold at which a plant's response shifts from being relatively stable to exhibiting significant stress responses, which will lead to yield loss. 💡🚑 Scientists at the The University of Bonn are conducting research to tackle this problem. They are using sensor technology and hyperspectral imaging to locate and identify the inflection point. 🌧️🛡️ Carolyn Mukiri Kambona, Ph.D explains that once the inflection point is known, interventions can be very effective by acting quickly and optimising farmers’ resource allocation. For example, by fine-tuning irrigation schedules to safeguard crops from drought. 🧪🧬 Agim Ballvora emphasises that the combination of sensor technology and molecular analysis offers unprecedented insights into plant adaptation mechanisms.
