SICAE Somme et Cambraisis’ Post

SICAE is at the forefront of what could be distribution networks in the future. With 500 GWh local renewable production (mainly wind but solar is on its way…) and 400 GWh consumption, one could easily think of maximizing the use of this energy. Not such an easy task to do. Since 2018, thanks to in-depths studies of energy flows and a precise knowledge of our networks, we reconfigured our 20kV network topology and so gradually raised the ratio of self-sufficiency to almost 50% in 2023. The 46% of local & renewable energies reject 0 gram of CO2 per kWh, and 54% from upstream French mix, 60 grams per kWh. So we distribute a real and very low, 32 grams per kWh on our networks.   Our goal is to go further on and try to reach even higher self-sufficiency ratios. This will require forecast models, temporary energy buffers, flexibility, network dynamic reconfigurations, so on and so forth. These functional blocks are currently tested at the SG Capitole demonstrator, and were presented officially during the grand opening on May 16th.
