Away from the headlines, #NYCW provided an opportunity for organisations and groups to engage on best practices and identify real progress that can be made through collaboration. The Lestari Capital team Emelyne Cheney Andika Putraditama took part in a number of valuable discussions, building on ideas for innovative finance and Nature-based Solutions.     Our views are clear:   💡 For all the talk of a #ClimateFinanceGap, we are not talking enough about new and additional sources of finance for #NatureBasedSolutions  💡Carbon credits are not, and should not be, the only mechanism available to finance conservation and restoration  💡Innovative finance mechanisms are emerging, such as HIFOR by Wildlife Conservation Society and the Tropical Forest Forever Facility by The Nature Conservancy  💡Through the rise of #BeyondValueChainMitigation, corporate finance can open new opportunities to finance climate action at scale     This is only a week, and for Lestari Capital and #RimbaCollective it is about taking what we have committed to into the rest of the year. A-Track is a new four-year, €11 million project that will accelerate action for nature by business, financial institutions and government.   A-Track is working with leading thought leaders and practitioners who have been driving change in the measurement and valuation of natural capital and biodiversity. Existing tools and approaches are being brought together and developed further to enable businesses, financial intuitions, and governments to accelerate action for nature. As a partner in A-Track, we are looking forward to working with the consortium to accelerate the use of natural capital approaches in decision making across Europe. Our role in the consortium includes developing biodiversity information pathways. Verra is known for bringing new standards in its strive to improve the quality and integrity of carbon credits. In that series, it has now introduced a new label to its assessment of key attributes of high-quality and high-integrity nature-based carbon credits, called ABACUS. This label also helps the projects adopt recent and upcoming scientific and technological developments. This additional label from VERRA ensures that investments in this segment will support truly additional, biodiverse, and lasting restoration. The ABACUS label will require projects to excel in key areas such as dynamic additionality, transparency, permanence, and the avoidance of displacement of food production. The ABACUS label also aims to advance several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15). I am honoured to have had the opportunity to be a specialist contributor to the Sustainable Finance Coalition biodiversity credits incubator. The prospect of biodiversity credits is so compelling. There has never been a time on earth with such collective awareness around the need to invest in biodiversity and billions are being mobilised to invest in nature as we speak. However, there is a broken link between this capital and the intended nature project developers, conservationists and local communities responsible for safeguarding nature. Biodiversity credits could be a viable way to overcome bottlenecks and scale deployment capital into nature. On the other hand, designing a new credit market is complex. Nature is everyone's right but we risk getting lost in definitions, frameworks and methodologies. If we are to see real impact through biodiversity credits - We should not let perfection be the enemy of progress - We need to have stronger engagement with buyers to create viable demand. This report highlights some of the key findings from the incubator. Thank you to all the fellow contributors.
