In a significant development, the world's two largest economies and kind of foes have agreed to enhance cooperation to uphold financial stability amidst heightened volatility in global markets. The China-US Financial Working Group recently convened its fifth meeting, where pivotal documents were signed to reinforce collaboration on financial stability within the group's framework. Established in September, the working group conducts regular and ad-hoc meetings to bolster communication on financial matters. https://lnkd.in/drWrG_fc #China #US #FinancialStability #GlobalMarkets #Cooperation #Economy #Finance

Why are markets so ambivalent to political noise? Political turbulence has been a dominant theme this year, but markets continue to show resilience. ◼️ Last week, French PM Michael Barnier resigned after losing a no-confidence vote over planned fiscal reforms. And yet, French markets rallied. ◼️ In South Korea, martial law was declared and repealed within six hours. And yet, Korean markets barely flinched. But is the ebullient mood of investors a sign of resilience — or complacency? See our latest forecasts and thinking on #CFIUS and #FDI review trends in our latest Foreign Investment Monitor. In addition to our projections for CFIUS under a Trump Administration, we’ve included an analysis of CFIUS data that shows—once you control for all of the noise that CFIUS includes in its reported statistics—some stark trends in the CFIUS process related to the challenges faced by investors from partners and allies, the drop in CFIUS efficiency in considering notices, and some of the sources of these challenges. The good news is that all of these things are resolvable, and I have no doubt that the highly capable staff of CFIUS, who work without fanfare or recognition, are motivated to do so if it is made a priority.
