I was at the mall earlier today... As i walked into a wine shop to pick up a bottle of red wine i was fascinated on how good a young sales boy was able to use a good customer service / marketing skills to sale a new product(WINE) to a customer. The woman wanted a particular type of wine which from they conversation, you could tell she was already used to the product (WINE) she was asking for.. The young boy told her they already ran out of stock on that particular PRODUCT (WINE) and has placed an order for restock. Instead of letting this customer go to another shop, he quickly introduced a new product to the woman(Customer) and smoothly sang the praise of this product that it drew the attention of another customer who was standing by and he ordered a cartoon product just to try out the new product. At some point i wanted to buy too because he convincingly spoke about the product. Anyone who heard him would want to try out the product and really know what makes it so special. AL-through, he spoke calmly and with a good smile and also intelligently answered all the customers questions about the product. The woman finally bought some cartoons of the new product and the sales boy even offered to help the customer carry her goods to her car. The woman left happily even though she didn't buy the exact product she came for. This is what customer support/sales is all about. A customer support person must go extra mile to satisfy the customers.(You really don't have to do such but little things counts. example compliments.) * A customer support/sales person must carefully study to know the product he/she supports. * A customers support/ sales person must be able to prioritize the customers need and satisfaction. * A customer support person must be a good listener and also always willing to support the customers at all times. * A good customer support person must always look for ways to make things easier for the customer. * A good customer support person must learn how to collaborate with teams to achieve a great result. After the woman left, i walked up to him and gave him a good handshake for a job well-done. I'm eager to apply my IT support skills in Customer support/sales/virtual assistance/lead generation..(etc.) in remote roles and also continue to learn and grow in my chosen Niche.
