Synopsis of Tonight’s Group on The Ladder of Divine Ascent: Discernment, as we have said, is the fruit of humility. Having removed the impediment of pride and having purified the heart of the passions, one comes to comprehend the things of the kingdom and the will of God. St. John gives us one example after another of how discernment helps us to perceive the things that lead us to God and that teach us to embrace that which endures. As one progresses in the spiritual life, however, discernment is not simply the ability to know God‘s will, but rather also the ability to fulfill it in the way that God desires. In this, a soul can begin to trust in the action of the Spirit within the mind and heart. Therefore, although spiritual guides may be lacking one is not abandoned by God. Rather, God makes all things work for the good of those who love him. In fact, the more one lays side ones will and turns to God in prayer and fasting, the more one lets go of the need to be driven by creativity, productivity, and one’s own intentions as a whole. The deeper the communion becomes with God, the more one finds joy in being drawn along whatever path He desires.

Nobody is totally independent; every single person is owned by one spirit or the other. The question now is, who owns you? You can tell who owns a property by the way the property is being used; a property will reflect the character and personality of its owner. That is why Matthew 7:18-20 says: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. If you are owned by Christ, people will see the character of Christ, which is also known as the fruit of the Spirit, in you. Does your character reflect Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance? (Galatians 5:22-23). If these do not define you, then it is likely that it is not God who owns you. Since there are only two divides in the spirit realm - the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of God, anyone that God does not own, is owned by the devil. This person will automatically engage in the works of the flesh as listed in Galatians 5:19-21. When you read that passage, you will see that many of the people who do these things do not even know that they are acting in accordance with their owner - the devil. For example, many people who envy think that it is just natural for humans to envy; they don’t know that envy can only stay in their hearts because they are not owned by the One who is Love Himself. The Bible tells us in Romans 6:16: Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? When Christ becomes your owner, you will no longer behave in line with the character of the devil. Surrender your life to Him today if you are yet to do so.

Am I Carnally Minded? By Oswald Chambers Where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal…? (1 Corinthians 3:3) The natural man, or unbeliever, knows nothing about carnality. The desires of the flesh warring against the Spirit, and the Spirit warring against the flesh, which began at rebirth, are what produce carnality and the awareness of it. But Paul said, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). In other words, carnality will disappear. Are you quarrelsome and easily upset over small things? Do you think that no one who is a Christian is ever like that? Paul said they are, and he connected these attitudes with carnality. Is there a truth in the Bible that instantly awakens a spirit of malice or resentment in you? If so, that is proof that you are still carnal. If the process of sanctification is continuing in your life, there will be no trace of that kind of spirit remaining. If the Spirit of God detects anything in you that is wrong, He doesn’t ask you to make it right; He only asks you to accept the light of truth, and then He will make it right. A child of the light will confess sin instantly and stand completely open before God. But a child of the darkness will say, “Oh, I can explain that.” When the light shines and the Spirit brings conviction of sin, be a child of the light. Confess your wrongdoing, and God will deal with it. If, however, you try to vindicate yourself, you prove yourself to be a child of the darkness. What is the proof that carnality has gone? Never deceive yourself; when carnality is gone you will know it— it is the most real thing you can imagine. And God will see to it that you have a number of opportunities to prove to yourself the miracle of His grace. The proof is in a very practical test. You will find yourself saying, “If this had happened before, I would have had the spirit of resentment!” And you will never cease to be the most amazed person on earth at what God has done for you on the inside.

"Discovering the True Image of God: Overcoming Parataxic Distortions | Inner Healing Insights" 👓 In this thought-provoking video, we encounter a little boy wearing sunglasses with the words "dad" and "mom" on the lenses. His innocent question, "God, is that really you?" unveils the concept of parataxic distortions in our perception of God. 🌟 📚 Parataxic distortions, as explored in certain schools of theology, refer to how we often view God through the lens of our parents' characteristics. If our earthly parents were distant or ungodly, it becomes challenging to believe in a loving and giving heavenly Father. 💔 🙏 Inner healing faces a significant hurdle in helping us see God as He truly is. When we recite the words "our heavenly Father," doubts may arise. Are you like my father? Was he absent or abusive? Did he abandon me? These questions cloud our understanding of God's true nature. 🌈 💔 It is crucial to remove the lens of past experiences and traumas to embrace God as a loving and compassionate heavenly Father. Only then can we fully grasp our identity as His beloved children. 💖 🌟 Join us on this journey of inner healing as we explore the process of overcoming parataxic distortions and rediscovering the true image of God. 🙌 #InnerHealing #DiscoveringGodsLove #OvercomingDistortions #Shorts

Letter to a Child of God for 27/10 As you become increasingly aware of God's presence, you find it easier to discern the way you should go. This is one one of the practical benefits of living close to Him. Instead of wondering how you would fare on the road ahead or worrying about what you should do if... or when...., you can concentrate on staying in communion with the Father. When you actually arrive at a choice point, He will show you which direction to go. Many people are so preoccupied with future plans and decisions that they fail to see choices they need to make today. Without any conscious awareness, they make their habitual responses. People who live this way find a dullness creeping into their lives. They sleepwalk through their days, following well-worn paths of routine. The LORD, Creator of the universe, is the most creative Being imaginable. He will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths. Instead, He will lead you along fresh trails of adventure, revealing to you things you did not know. Stay in communion with Him. Follow His guiding presence. Psalm 32:8; Genesis 1:1 (Sarah Young)

Matthew 6:28 is part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, where He teaches about trusting in God's provision. The verse says: “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.” (NIV) Explanation: Addressing Anxiety: Jesus is encouraging His listeners not to be anxious about material needs, like clothing. He uses nature as an example to illustrate God’s care and provision. The Flowers’ Growth: Flowers grow beautifully without working or worrying. Their beauty comes from God’s design, not their own effort. This reflects how God provides for all creation. Lesson in Trust: If God takes such care of flowers, which are temporary, how much more will He care for His people, who are of far greater value to Him? Spiritual Focus: Jesus is reminding His followers to prioritize seeking God's kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33), trusting that their needs will be provided for without excessive worry. This verse challenges us to trust in God's faithfulness and provision, shifting our focus from material concerns to reliance on Him.
