Please help by liking and sharing this post. If you can help by a small donation every little really does count. Together with a team of volunteers, we are raising money for this vital project in Zimbabwe. Join us as we walk the length and breadth of Wales to help raise funds. Myself and a good friend Jon Green and my English Springer Spaniel Bandit #banditthebombdog will be continuing our walk from July 19th-22nd 2024. Carrying our own gear and camping out under the star's. On this occasion we are planning on covering 40 miles along the Pembrokeshire Coastal path. One of Wales most beautiful coastlines. A message from Zimbabwe: "Water is life - and life comes from Water. Funds are being raised to help establish a water supply in a part of Zimbabwe called Mahamara which is located in the Sebakwe wilderness area and neighbours the Sebakwe Recreational Park. Mahamara is a prime wildlife habitat that once teemed with zebra, warthog, impala, kudu, wildebeest, tsessebe, giraffe, sable and eland amongst other species including migratory elephant, leopard and cheetah. The area is also home to the brown hyena which is a unique and uncommon species. As a result of illegal poaching and compounded by weather change patterns bringing irregular rains and lack of water, the wildlife has dissipated but all is not lost and there is always hope and opportunity to restore and make a positive difference which is what Mahamara is all about. To exist and thrive, wildlife requires 3 key ingredients being HABITAT SECURITY WATER. The habitat is in place at Mahamara and a current ongoing long term project to provide security and prevent poaching is a work in progress and which is showing positive results after 4 years of concerted effort. In addition to the three key ingredients, conservation awareness and participation for local communities is also a major part of the programme, but it will take more than habitat , security and conservation awareness to bring the animals back. WATER is needed as the third key ingredient. . When vital water is supplied then life can exist and also plants and vegetation abound and the remnant animals will return to occupy the habitat to feed and drink and to feel safe in this habitat, which has the required anti poaching protection and security. The animals will then naturally breed and multiply and in short time the ecosystem and area will thrive once more. A series of water supply works are planned, including bore holes, solar pumps, pipelines and reestablishment of old watering holes and points that will cause the wildlife to proliferate. When wildlife succeeds in an area such as Mahamara ,then the community will also thrive because the habitat and land use is being adjusted and restored to include how nature designed it to be and where value can be derived. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in this water rehabilitation task, please use the link below to donate.

I've got no issue with philanthropic investment in nature, and I've had significant professional involvement in a number of corporate partnerships with DOC over the years. However, the idea that while the government (and more accurately, successive governments) is continuing to slash DOC's already meagre budget to protect more than 4000 threatened species, leaving DOC to seek private investment on critically endangered species/ecosystems isn't quite right. Philanthropic and private investment in New Zealand's globally unique nature and natural heritage should always be the icing on the cake, not the cake. The New Zealand public expect governments to fund the cake (our natural heritage) to a sufficient level to ensure that nature is protected on behalf of us all. Currently DOC's budget is 0.64 percent of the Government’s core budget. For a country that identifies so strongly with te taiao, and sells ourselves (and our products) to the world as being from 'clean, green, NZ', we're not putting our money where our mouth is. Last year, DOC reported that the financial value of tourism to visiting public conservation land alone was in the order of $4 billion per annum. Any good business invests strategically in their economic assets to ensure a sustainable return. The corresponding expenditure on DOC is peanuts in return. The government (and governments in general) must do better than this. The nature that defines us all, as well as our international reputation and ongoing prosperity is at stake.
The Department of Conservation (DOC) is asking for private and philanthropic donations to fund its work. Forest & Bird CE Nicola Toki says this funding model is a "slippery slope". "While the department has a long history of private and philanthropic support, it should be "the icing on the cake". "New Zealanders expect the government to invest in protecting the environment, especially at a time when this country has the highest proportion of threatened indigenous species in the world. "The natural environment is also a huge drawcard in terms of tourism... it doesn't make economic sense to neglect an asset that is bringing in money. "When you have an asset that delivers your economic returns, you invest meaningfully and properly in those assets. We just don't need what turns out to be the equivalent of a sausage sizzle." While Canada Post has resumed mail delivery, the impacts of the strike will be felt by many charities, including WWF-Canada, for months to come. Mail might not seem vital in an era dominated by digital communications, but it remains a trusted channel for donor engagement and fundraising — especially during the holiday season when giving is at its peak. For months, we’ve been preparing one of our most significant fundraising campaigns of the year, adding all the right personal touches to inspire our amazing donors to create a world where wildlife, nature and people thrive. Though we are fortunate that we do not have to cancel the mailing, we don’t know how long it will await delivery as Canada Post works to clear a significant backlog. This mailing, which encourages supporters to give before the Dec. 31 tax deadline, may not be delivered on time. For many Canadian charities, inspiring and motivating donors is becoming harder to do in a world where cost of living seemingly increases by the day. We know there will be fewer donations this year because of the postal disruption and, therefore, less funds available to fight against biodiversity loss and climate change. Though your mailbox may not be filled with holiday mail from WWF-Canada right away, the need is greater than ever. I encourage you to visit wwf.ca/givetoday or call us directly at 1-800-267-2632 to make your year-end gift. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a world of difference for wildlife.

Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, but you don't have to wait until then to make double the difference for the first panda! 🐾 Your donation will support community-based conservation programs that protect red pandas and empower the people who live alongside them. And make twice the impact! 🙌 ⚠️ This is important because the global red panda population is in decline. Fewer than 10,000 remain in the wild, and the population might be as low as 2,500. Fortunately, red panda numbers are increasing in the areas we are working in Nepal! Our plans in 2025, which include expanding habitat restoration 🌳 and launching our Poachers To Protectors campaign, will help ensure the survival of red pandas. Join our mission to save red pandas with a donation that is matched x2 -- thanks to our First Panda Challengers 🙏 -- and become a Red Panda Protector today! 💪 https://lnkd.in/dBE8mjwh Design by Laura Siu 📷 #RedPandaProtector #PandaProtector #PoachersToProtectors #FirstPandaChallenge #GivingTuesday #GivingTuesday2024 #conservation #communitybasedconservation #redpandaconservation #redpanda #redpandas #SaveTheRedPanda #FirstPanda #saveredpandas #doubleyourimpact

I'm incredibly proud of my daughter, Olivia Sievert, who is dedicated to saving cheetahs in Africa! 🦁❤️ Through her tireless work and commitment to wildlife conservation, she has not only learned about the challenges cheetahs face but has also spearheaded initiatives that have made a tangible impact. In this short video, Olivia shares her journey and the incredible success they've had with donations and community support. Her efforts have already helped fund anti-poaching patrols, wildlife research, and habitat restoration, but there's so much more to do. What truly stands out is how her passion has united people – from individuals to small businesses – who want to make a real difference. 🌱 SMBs and nonprofits have the power to create a lasting impact by contributing to causes that align with their values. Just as my daughter’s campaign has received tremendous support, your businesses can also help create change while giving back to the community. 💼 It’s inspiring to see how the generosity of others is fueling these efforts, and it shows that even small contributions, when combined, can lead to big results. Together, we can make a lasting difference for wildlife and our planet. Check out the video to learn more about how you can support these efforts and join the cause! 🌿. Perhaps a great way for you or your company to "give back" for Christmas? I have a son and a daughter, both members of generation Z. When they were younger, my wife and I would give them an allowance. We made them split their allowance into three buckets: savings, spending and charity. Savings they got back when they turned 18, spending can be used as they desired and charity got donated to the nonprofit of their choice. My kids normally saved up their charity dollars all year and made an end-of-the-year gift. Their gifts, and our experience in making those gifts online, inspired me to write this blog article. Here are three lessons all nonprofits can learn from the youngest generation of givers:. https://buff.ly/4aY5tPk #donations #nonprofit #donation #fundraising #charity #nonprofitorganization #nonprofits #notforprofit #support #socialgood #donorlove

(Just $27 away! Reposting this since it is for a fantastic cause.) Help me raise money for World Wide Fund for Nature (as I gasp for air walking up the CN tower in Toronto)! Anyone can help, no matter the amount or where you are. It's easy: just click on the link below to donate. Funds raised will support WWF's ambitious 10-year plans to Regenerate Canada and build a future with abundant wildlife, where nature and people thrive. WWF plans to: 1. Restore at least one million hectares, regenerating lost complex ecosystems that provide essential wildlife habitat and sequester carbon in nature. 2. Steward at least 100 million hectares of vital ecosystems for wildlife and communities. 3. Reduce carbon emissions by 30 million tonnes by restoring carbon-rich habitats and protecting current carbon stores. Thank you in advance for your time and for your generosity =) https://lnkd.in/gNQYNmc2
