The Truth About Mental Health Apps: Why 96% of Users Don’t Stick Around, and what needs to change. Five years ago, I launched my first digital mental health app. It gained tens of thousands of users, but there was a problem: they didn’t stick around. We tried gamification, redesigns, push notifications—you name it. Yet, our daily active users remained stubbornly low. Our struggle wasn’t unique. Research shows that 96% of people who download a mental health app stop using it within just 15 days. This isn’t just a user experience challenge; it’s a wake-up call for the entire industry. The digital mental health field has spent years wrestling with the engagement problem—and progress has been slow. But here’s the thing: the problem isn’t content. It’s experience. Think about the apps and platforms people love to spend time on—games like Roblox and Fortnite. These platforms aren’t just apps; they’re immersive, engaging experiences. They offer personalization, fun, and a sense of progress that makes people want to come back again and again. Why shouldn’t mental health apps do the same? Today at Novobeing, we’re rewriting the playbook and learning from the past. Our approach combines the personalization and engagement of gaming with the transformative potential of mental health support. Imagine a fully embodied, interactive experience that adapts to your unique needs while you are fully immersed in VR. Our solution integrates gamification, biofeedback, and upcoming mobile support. Users track progress, see tangible results, and engage with tools designed specifically for them and their unique condition. And the results? One of our clinical trials showed unprecedented engagement: 70% of users completed the program. This is the future of digital mental health. Not another app to download and forget, but an experience to immerse yourself in—a tool that works with you to meet your goals in both the real and virtual worlds. We’re building this for hospital-bound patients at Novobeing But the potential applications are limitless! Let’s stop trying to solve today’s problems with yesterday’s solutions. It’s time to innovate, to create, and to reimagine what digital mental health can be. #DigitalHealth #MentalHealth #UserEngagement #TechInnovation

🚀 Designing a mental health app and tackling multiple flows! In my current project for TAHMEF, a mental health app, I am trying to balance the needs of various users: admins, therapists, and end-users. It's a challenge, but one that brings immense rewards. 🎯 Here are some key hurdles I’m navigating: 👉 Admin dashboard complexity: ensuring that admins have an intuitive, easy-to-use interface to manage users, content, and settings without feeling overwhelmed is crucial. The key: balancing functionality with simplicity. 👉 Therapist tools and accessibility: therapists need robust, reliable tools to manage appointments, notes, and communications. I am working on creating an interface that is powerful and easy to navigate, reducing their tech burden so they can focus on their clients. 👉 User experience and engagement: for end-users, the app must be welcoming, easy to navigate, and engaging. What is most important here: ensuring privacy and creating a safe space for users to seek help and track their progress. 👉 Integration of features across flows: seamlessly integrating features so they work well across all user types is a significant challenge. Consistency in design while taking care of diverse needs requires thorough user testing and feedback. 👉 Data privacy and security: given the sensitive nature of mental health data, I need to prioritize security measures, ensuring compliance with regulations and user trust. Designing this app is a journey, one that demands empathy, precision, and a deep understanding of user needs. But the potential impact on mental well-being makes every challenge worth it. 💡 #uxdesign #uidesign #mentalhealth #appdesign #userexperience #techforgood I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on designing multi-user apps!

Why did we introduce an Anonymous Posting feature on Shyft’s App Community? At Shyft, we’re all about user experience. When we spoke to our community of users, we realized that there were still some tough health topics that people weren’t comfortable putting their name to - whether it was their personal health journey or just an embarrassing question! That’s why we’ve introduced the ‘post anonymously’ feature on our app. Now community members can freely ask questions, share experiences and discuss topics you are not yet comfortable putting your name to. All questions on the app are answered by our expert nutritionists, trainers and health coaches and other community members. This new feature will empower our community members to freely express themselves, share their personal stories, and discuss sensitive health topics without the fear of being judged.
