Iberdrola has signed a €500 million syndicated green loan with ICO, Banco Sabadell, and HSBC as part of plans to fund its upcoming renewable energy projects. Iberdrola intends to use the proceeds to finance wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage projects located in the US, Australia, and Italy, all of which will reach a total capacity of 897 MW between 2025 and 2026. The €500 million loan, which has a maturity of 15 years, is covered by Cesce in its role as the Spanish Export Credit Agency and guaranteed by the Internationalisation Risk Reserve Fund (FRRI). Iberdrola said in a statement: “This loan contributes to diversifying Iberdrola’s financing, which is able to combine various sources: capital markets, financial institutions, development banks such as The World Bank or the European Investment Bank (EIB) and state agencies for the promotion of exports that reduce or eliminate the risk of operations. In this case, HSBC has been the coordinating bank for the operation.” #cleanenergy
