When I started my entrepreneurial journey at 19, I faced a unique #challenge: most of my friends and classmates weren’t involved in business or full-time roles. Navigating #professional events and fairs alone felt daunting and, at times, isolating. But what initially seemed like a disadvantage turned into one of my greatest #opportunities for growth. Attending such events alone pushed me out of my #comfortzone and opened doors to a world of talented, innovative, and #creative individuals. Engaging in meaningful conversations helped me learn, broaden my perspectives, and develop a diverse and #holisticnetwork of business #associates, #collaborators, and even #newfriends. This experience transformed my #interpersonal and #communicationskills, teaching me how to build connections strategically. Over time, these connections became instrumental to our business growth. Many of them availed our services, referred others, or provided invaluable #feedback—sometimes more candid and actionable than what friends could offer. For instance, in The Serra Cafe’s early days, our initial visitors were familiar faces, providing us with a strong launch simply to get a taste of our new # product! I believe long-term growth comes from expanding beyond your circle, reaching new people, and building a brand that resonated with local #communities through authentic relationships. Till today, a significant portion of our success is driven by # referrals and the organic reach of these professional networks. What started as a challenge has become a cornerstone of my #entrepreneurialjourney. While marketing is a powerful tool, building personal connections and growing through word-of-mouth endorsements is what drives sustainable success. I did something different and pushed myself out of my comfort zone yesterday. 👊🏼 In January, when I made the decision to build the Recruitment Heroes business into a 7 figure one, I knew I’d have to do things I’ve never done before. What’s that saying? "If you’re not willing to change, don’t expect your life (or business) to either" Sooo… ⚡️I hired a mindset coach for 6 months to learn more about myself and how my brain works (and holds me back sometimes) ⚡️Invested (and experimented) in a LOAD of new tech platforms ⚡️Started our own bi-monthly networking event in Northampton (great work, Alisha!!) 👏🏼 ⚡️Scaled the business from 3 to 10 heads ⚡️Signed up to various NETWORKING events across the UK - I’m in Chester tomorrow and London on Wednesday 🤩 …and I also invested in TWO business mentors Rich Evans & Tristan Rushworth (Unbound) and their AMAZING group of business owners who I spent the whole day with yesterday!! 🤩 📈 We chatted all things business - thank you to the amazing Chris Peace 🙏🏼 🧠 Learnt about how our brain works and the effects it has on our performance ⚡️How to build a solid team around us in order to WIN! When I started working with one of my clients, he had a meticulously planned business strategy, but things weren't taking off as he had envisioned. During one of our early meetings, I shared advice that would change his venture's trajectory. "Strategy only works when you build connections." He had been so focused on executing his plan that he overlooked the importance of cultivating relationships within his industry. He was trying to go at it alone. I encouraged him to step out of his comfort zone and start networking. At first, he was hesitant, but he took a leap of faith and attended an industry event. There, he struck up a conversation with a seasoned professional who became his friend. This person not only provided invaluable insights but also introduced my client to key players in the business. Suddenly, doors started opening – potential clients, partners, and advisors were just a connection away. He attended more events, scheduled one-on-one meetings, and followed up consistently. Today, his business is thriving, and he attributes a large part of that success to genuine connections. His network has become a trusted advisory board, a source of inspiration, and sometimes, even a circle of friends.
