While I understand the arguments that participation ribbons and trophies provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation, I feel giving a trophy simply for participating undermine the value of competition and hard work. I mean, doesn’t a trophy merely for participating (aka minimal effort) essentially foster a sense of entitlement?
