From raising awareness about early detection to promoting healthy lifestyles, the power of our communities can’t be overstated. International health agencies on Cancer Research have highlighted the importance of strong community networks in improving breast cancer care. Together, we can push for better healthcare policies, advocate for more screening centers, and ensure no one faces cancer alone. Every act of support counts, from sharing knowledge to providing a shoulder to lean on. 🌸𝐷𝑎𝑦 28: 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 #NewHopeforBreastCancerPatientsEverywhere Incredible breakthroughs in cancer treatment like HER2 inhibitors and immunotherapies are saving lives. These treatments give women a fighting chance, bringing light where there was once only darkness. But while these advances shine, there are places still waiting for this hope to arrive. Rural communities like our grassroots often face long, difficult journeys to access advanced treatments. This is why our mission must be more than just progress; it must be compassionate progress that reaches everyone, no matter how far they are. Hope has no borders. Let’s work together to bring life-saving treatments closer to home, ensuring every woman has access to the care she deserves. #PBOHICares #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Lauren Pretorius CEO and founder of Campaigning for Cancer and I this morning. We utilize every moment at our disposal to brainstorm ideas on #expandingaccesstocare for cancer patients. “The link between poor access to care and poor health outcomes is well established” (Hoffman, 1998; IOM, 1994). Challenges that result in adequate access need to be addressed and minimized. This can be done through #partnerships, #healthcaresystemsstrengthening, #innovativevaluesolutions, #highqualitycancercare and #policyshaping, amongst other interventions. Let’s continue to find multi-pronged approaches to improve access to innovative solutions by breaking existing barriers. "We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated." — Maya Angelou “When women work together, it’s a bond unlike any other.” – Victoria Principal Women are the glue that holds communities together.” – Mariela Dabbah Happy Women’s Month 😀 #leavingnoonebehind. February marks Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month. In 2021, my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma. Within a week, he had passed. His battle, though brief, was devastating and eye-opening. The reality of how little is known about this cancer in the general community struck me hard. This has propelled me to take action, in his memory, to educate and inform as many people as I can about the disease. Cholangiocarcinoma is a silent threat, often going undetected until it's too late. We need more awareness, research, and conversations about this disease. You never know; the information you share could help save a life or support someone in their hour of need. Please take a moment to learn and share about Cholangiocarcinoma. Visit the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation's website for valuable information and help spread the word, not just during awareness month but year-round. https://lnkd.in/giVZYXqz #CholangiocarcinomaAwareness #CancerResearch #InMemoryOfDad
Spread awareness by educating your community about #cholangiocarcinoma. This year, we are advocating for a smoother journey to diagnosis for people impacted by cholangiocarcinoma – timely, decisive, and supported. It's time to be #BeClearOnCCA. You can download and print this one-page fact sheet from our website, curecca.org, to provide essential information about cholangiocarcinoma and the resources CCF offers. We encourage you to deliver this sheet to medical providers, cancer treatment facilities, health and community centers, and more to help us share resources with communities nationwide. #volunteersupport #greenforcca #curecca #ccahope #strengthincommunity

We caught up with Wenora Johnson, a passionate patient advocate and three-time cancer survivor, to discuss what needs to be done to further elevate and amplify the patient voice throughout clinical trials. Wenora shared some truly inspirational insights with us but one that stuck out the most is that "not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it's faced". Will you be facing the change with us, this May 8-9 in Atlanta? Ticket prices for the Health Equity in Clinical Trials Congress increase Friday, March 8. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here and it is important to provide screening to everyone. * Black and Hispanic women living in low-income and underserved communities suffer from lower breast cancer survival rates than those living in more affluent neighborhoods. This disparity is due to several factors: insufficient knowledge of family history, inadequate access to quality health education, and easy and affordable access to care. Breast Cancer Alliance (BCA) funds breast health education programs and provides grants to institutions to cover costs associated with mammograms, biopsies, and other breast cancer-related services for underserved women, eliminating financial barriers to care.
