Happy Friday As we wind down another productive week and look towards the weekend, I want to spark a bit of reflection on something that's close to my heart: purpose-driven leadership. Have you ever stopped to think about what truly motivates you to jump out of bed every morning and head to work? For many of us, beyond the pay and possible free biscuits, it’s the sense of purpose in what we do and the impact we can create. 🌍 This weekend, I encourage you to think about this— how does the mission of your company resonate with your personal values? How is your daily work contributing to a greater purpose? As I complete my final assignment for my Diploma in Leadership, this video popped up and prompted me to reflect on the incredible potential I’ve witnessed in young people I’ve worked with over the years. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of recognising and investing in untapped potential. With youth unemployment still a significant challenge, I hope more leaders and employers will embrace this mindset—seeing the value in everyone and taking a chance on the next generation. When take a bet on people, we don’t just unlock opportunities; we create the foundation for brighter futures for all.

From a possibly unlikely source (not a person you associate with "leadership" lessons in business - I don't think Alex has led many teams!), here is such a lesson. Essentially: work your way mentally through the challenges until you are comfortable with the images of you and those challenging situations. To be sure, practice and preparation are vital elements also. But that mental journey made the difference. For another story in a totally different realm (which, however, has some rock climbing in it!), I recommend my book "Hanna's Ascent" (find it in one click from my LinkedIn home page). The mental preparation to overcome one's fears and psychological obstacles, and the benefit for achieving your goals in career or life, are remarkably similar. "GIC" stands for 𝐆et 𝐈nspired and 𝐂onnected, perfectly capturing the purpose of the day 🧠🧡 Together, we watched the "Wisdom Of The Geese" video. In the joint session, we emphasized the importance of #collaboration and mutual #support within our teams. Just like geese flying in V formation, our company can achieve greater efficiency and success when we work together and support each other. When one team member needs a break, others step up, ensuring continuous progress.
