"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." - Pericles Legacy. A potent word that has a practically equal bearing upon our personal and professional lives alike. Past and present continually intersect, both in our home/domestic lives and in the workspaces/workplaces that we occupy in carrying out our professions. "What's past is prologue" as the timeless line from Shakespeare's play The Tempest goes. Companies - businesses - are very much like families, rich in distinctive histories quite unique to them. Marketers (like yours truly) are curators of such histories, vested as we are with the responsibilities of being ever mindful of a brand's legacy (or history) as well as the need to keep ushering it ever forward - keeping said brand visible, relevant, impactful. Memorable. Ultimately it's a form of storytelling - and of course the greatest challenge of telling any story is keeping up interest. That's an inherently daunting task, needless to say. The greater the legacy, though - the richer the history - the better the stories there are to be told. About the past. About the present. About the future. #stewarttitle #stewart #legacy

Individual lives and governments depend upon the singularity of gentleman/hero. For the body politic to thrive the gentleman has to foster or restore a belief in “persons of honour, of goodness, of generosity; and who are above reserve, vindictiveness, jealousy, and those other bad Passions by which some persons mark indiscrimi- nately a whole nation.” Such is the mission of gentleman in the eigh- teenth century prose of Samuel Richardson that is still subsumed in the scenarios of Ronald Colman movies that range from fifteenth century Florence to twentieth century London and Paris and even to the American West in The Winning of Barbara Worth. Which is to say that the concept of the gentleman is ever renewable and act- able in the performances of Ronald Colman.
