🌟 What an amazing morning! Last Wednesday, our Kindergarten 1 and 2 students from our #Preschool based on Holland Road visited our St. Joseph’s Institution International joseph's institution international campus on Thomson Road to experience 'big school' for the first time! 🌈
Their virtues truly shone: they greeted Dr. Johnston, Ms. Nicol, and Mrs. Hazlewood with courage and enthusiasm, found peace in the chapel, joy in the library, and embraced wonder in the Sensory Garden. They made new friends at the Ship Playground, joining Mrs. Agar's Prep 1 class in fun and laughter! 🌿✨
Mrs. Kendon shared insights about the gifts of Virtues we all carry and how they grow through our experiences. To top it off, the children planted their own Virtue Pot Plants as a reminder to nurture the gifts from God within us all. 🌱❤️

A moment of vulnerability... Is it okay to share my deep old struggles on national news?
As I take a deep breath, I'm reminded of the little girl I once was - a GEP student, expected to have it altogether. But behind the accolades and perfect scores, there was a child grappling with self-doubt and loneliness.
You see, being in the top 0.x% academically doesn't shield you from feeling inadequate. If anything, it can make those feelings even more isolating. After all, who would believe that the 'smart kid' struggles too?
But here's the beautiful truth I've learned on this journey: our struggles don't define us - they refine us.
Those moments of self-doubt? They've blossomed into deep empathy.
The fear of not being enough? It's teaching me to celebrate small victories.
The loneliness? It's opened my heart to connect with others in their pain.
Today, as a business leader, parent, and forever-student of life, I'm grateful for every challenge that's shaped me. They've given me the gift of understanding, the strength to be vulnerable, and the courage to say, "It's okay not to be okay."
To anyone out there feeling alone in their struggles - whether you're labeled 'gifted' or not - please know that your worth isn't measured by grades or achievements. You are valued, you are loved, and your struggles are valid.
Let's create a world where we celebrate not just brilliant minds, but also kind hearts and resilient spirits. A world where authenticity trumps perfection, and where we lift each other up in our shared humanity.
This is my story, told with an open heart. I hope it brings a little warmth, a lot of hope, and the gentle reminder that you're never alone on your journey too. ❤️
Thank you Stephanie Yeo for sharing my story too!

When I read Crystal Lim-Lange’s first viral post on the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) last week, I knew it would make a good story.
Many people have shared their POV since news of the GEP’s revamp was announced at the National Day Rally. But Crystal’s account was startlingly raw and honest.
I had heard about some gifted kids being neurodivergent, but here was a no holds barred account. No wonder it resonated with many across social media.
I am grateful to Crystal for granting me an interview to share more about her life. You don’t need to be gifted to see her resilience and street smarts, qualities that every parent wants in their child.
And isn’t it amazing that the girl who had no friends and frustrated her teachers is now an educator to thousands of people?
Thank you, also, to Jean Liu 卢传瑾, Beatrice Liu 刘诗颖 and Karen Soh for sharing their GEP journeys.
I’m not sure what your takeaway from this article will be, but for me, it is to continue believing in my children, even if they don’t always fit into the “system”.

The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. In a capitalist economy, prices allocate capital and labor between competing uses, and capital assets can be privately owned and controlled.

I Have Twins
In many ways, the current educational system feels like a set of twins: indistinguishable outcomes for those who attended school versus those who didn’t. Ultimately, we all seem to end up in a state of confusion, asking ourselves, "What’s next?"
As I approach the end of my undergraduate journey, I've never heard the question, “What do I do now?” posed more frequently.
A Classmate: “What are you planning to do after school? What’s next for you?”
Me: Despite my diverse experiences and exposures, I have a multitude(100 and 1)of plans.
However, many students leave school without a clear sense of purpose, which should have been cultivated in the classroom.
If you find yourself uncertain about your next steps, I encourage you to connect with someone like Ajibade Tobiloba.
To all my teachers and educators: share your life experiences in the classroom. Education goes beyond textbooks; it’s about imparting knowledge, skills, and character.
Remember, it’s more about you than the book. One word can change a life.
P.S. I just finished a program where we were privileged to host Bishop Abioye. What a transformative time in God’s presence!

Saw this post on how schools have incorporated “play-based learning” for students. I'm glad to see how learning has been transformed in our schools, and this got me thinking. How can we apply this to adults?
Designing for adults requires a nuanced approach. I often ask myself—how can I incorporate the element of ‘fun’ and relatedness into adult learning? While we may not use the same “play” techniques, we can incorporate experiential learning, gamification, and collaborative problem-solving to create engaging environments where adult learners feel challenged and motivated. We can tap into intrinsic motivation, encourage exploration, and connect learning outcomes to real-world applications. It’s bringing together the “knowing” and the “doing” with an added touch of fun to drive engagement and connectedness.
After all, learning should be a lifelong journey—not just about acquiring knowledge but enjoying the process as we learn and grow.

I mentioned at the National Day Rally that our schools are embarking on “play-based learning”. That means incorporating elements of play into lesson time, so that students can learn through play.
I visited Woodlands Primary School and joined one of their classes to experience this firsthand. This was a math lesson for P4 students. But instead of doing worksheets, they refreshed their understanding of fractions through a game. The students loved it! They actively engaged one another, and learnt in a fun and engaging environment.
I’m glad to see the positive changes taking place in our classrooms and schools. We aim to instill the joy of learning in all our students!

In the halls of high school memories, the echo of "Miss Rosemary Simra Zubair" reverberates, carrying the weight of recognition and admiration. It was a title bestowed in the midst of academic pursuits and youthful camaraderie, marking a moment of distinction and pride. Class 10, a chapter of growth and discovery, where each syllable of that name encapsulated dreams, aspirations, and the essence of a vibrant journey.
