Throwback to the magical morning for our Kindergarten 1 and 2 students from our preschool last week! ✨ As they stepped into 'big school', St. Joseph’s Institution International for the first time, their bright personalities and virtues truly shone. From finding peace in the chapel, joy in the library, and wonder in the sensory garden, to making new friends with the Prep 1 class on the playground – it was a day filled with fun and laughter! 🌟 A special moment came when Mrs. Kendon spoke about nurturing the Virtues within us all. The children even planted their own Virtue Pot Plants as a beautiful reminder to grow kindness, courage, and love every day. 🌱❤️ #SJIInternational #SJIIPreschool #GrowingVirtues #BigSchoolJourney #KindnessCourageLove

School is about to begin, and here's a gentle reminder for all parents out there. Take 5 minutes to sit with your child and have a conversation about kindness. Teach them that making fun of someone's differences is never okay. Emphasize that there's beauty in diversity and that everyone deserves respect, regardless of their appearance or background. Explain to your child the importance of inclusivity and compassion. Help them understand that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to feel accepted and valued. Encourage them to be a source of positivity and support for their peers. Remind your child that school is a place for learning, growth, and building friendships. Encourage them to focus on their education and personal development, rather than engaging in negative behaviors or competition. Kindness and empathy can go a long way in creating a safe and supportive school environment. Let's instill these values in our children from an early age, teaching them to be empathetic, understanding, and inclusive. Thank you, Linda Dickey and Kim Downs Norway, for the important reminder. It all starts at home. #KindnessMatters #Inclusivity #SchoolPrep 📚🌟

School will be starting soon. As we prepare our children for the new school year, let's take a moment to reflect on the values we instill in them. Teaching our kids about inclusivity and empathy is crucial. It only takes 5 minutes to sit down with your child and explain that there is no reason to make fun of someone for their appearance or background. Let's remind them that there's nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes every day or using a used backpack. Every child's dreams are equally important. Let's educate our children on the importance of kindness and acceptance. Encourage them not to exclude anyone for being different or not having the same opportunities. Remind them that teasing can hurt and that school is a place to learn, not to compete. Remember, education starts at home. Together, let's create a more inclusive and compassionate future generation. #BackToSchool #Inclusivity #Empathy #Education #Kindness

Lessons from the playground Today’s post was inspired by reading my son’s Year 6 school leavers’ book last night – a book of memories from the children's time at primary school. One thing particularly stood out for me as a reminder of the power that every one of us has to make an impact on others. Each of the children answered a series of questions, including their favourite memory of school life. One of the girls wrote ‘Joining the school on sports day in reception and Sam Ashley being my buddy and making me feel so welcome and making a new friend.’ Of course there’s an element of proud Mummy in my reaction, but there are some powerful lessons in that memory: ➡ First impressions count: how you show up, particularly in your first encounters, is important ➡ We can all make a difference when it comes to inspiring inclusion and belonging - it’s not just the domain of those with ‘leader’ or ‘manager’ in their title ➡ Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest and most lasting impact: don’t overlook the power of simple human behaviours to shape someone’s experience What can you do today to make a difference to someone else? A smile can go a long way. Happy Friday. 😊 #kindness #humanfirst #inclusion #belonging

Reflecting on the past academic year, I've witnessed incredible growth in our children since last September. Over the past 9 months, we've all learned so much. As educators, we've honed our skills in observation to better connect with our students. In turn, the children have developed patience, focus, and concentration. Every area of our classroom nurtures their cognitive, social, emotional, and critical thinking skills, shaping them into confident individuals. Montessori pedagogy is truly child-driven, emphasizing the importance of connecting with children from their perspective rather than imposing an adult-centric approach. Here's a glimpse of our children at work, embodying the essence of this philosophy.

Fostering Peace in Our Classrooms: A Montessori Approach 🌍🕊️ Maria Montessori believed that education is the best tool for building peace, and her philosophy continues to guide our classrooms today. 📚✨ On International Peace Day, we reflect on how teaching empathy, respect, and understanding can lead to a more peaceful world. 🌎 In a Montessori environment, peace begins with the child. 🌱 We use a conflict resolution approach that empowers children to resolve their differences with kindness and understanding. By guiding them through discussions, we teach them to listen actively, express their feelings, and seek mutually agreeable solutions. 🤝 This process not only helps them resolve immediate conflicts but also instills lifelong skills for maintaining harmony in their relationships. 💬❤️ Imagine a classroom where disagreements become opportunities for growth, where children learn to see the world through another’s eyes, and where respect for all is the foundation of every interaction. 🌟 This is how we build a culture of peace, one interaction at a time. As we celebrate International Peace Day, let’s continue to promote peace not just in our classrooms, but in our communities and beyond. How are you fostering peace in your school today? Share your practices and ideas with us! 🌿🕊️ #InternationalPeaceDay #MontessoriPeace #EducationForPeace #ConflictResolution #EmpathyInAction #LearningRespect #MontessoriEducation #MontessoriEducationForPeace
