The 10 steps to creating a podcast: Number 9 - Understand Legal and Copyright Basics Use royalty-free music or obtain the necessary licenses for any copyrighted material. Have guests sign a release form if their voice or content is being shared. This one can be very tricky (and lawyerly). There is a lot of information out there and not all of it is good (is 10 seconds ok?). When in doubt either check with a lawyer or don't use the material. There are lots of great royalty free or pay sites that you can use to add material to your podcasts.

Easily one of my favorite episodes from Ari Herstand’s podcast! As a musician; and lawyer, I am really curious about how the royalty system works, and Serona Elton was great at explaining MLCs role and how mechanical royalties work in the US. While things in India may be different, I recommend listening to the conversation just to make sense of this unnecessarily complicated music royalty system. It’s also a reminder that we are still trying to figure out a way to build a music ecosystem that works for everybody! The current system is largely opaque, and there is a dire need for a checks and balances mechanism. https://lnkd.in/gYR4vAcb
