Most common easy wins to improve your pitch: 👉 Cut to the chase quickly - what are you building, who is it for, and why will it outperform what’s already out there? 👉 Highlight why your team is the right one to execute and win this market. 👉 Highlight your traction—what progress have you made so far? 👉 Present a realistic, near-term total addressable market (TAM) using a bottoms-up approach. 👉 Be clear about how the funding will be used and what milestones it will help you achieve. Being overly creative can hurt your pitch. Early in my journey of building Promotex, I sat with a client to present what we could do for them. It was a dream client we had worked so hard to build rapport with. I presented a lot of intricate ideas, each more creative than the last, thinking I’d wow them with options. Instead, I overwhelmed them. The client paused and said, “We love the creativity, but what’s your recommendation?” That single question shifted my perspective entirely. Clients don’t need every possibility laid out—they need clarity, confidence, and a tailored solution that works for their goals. Now, every project starts with one question: “What will make the biggest impact for their audience?” Sometimes, simplicity is the smartest strategy.

Pitching isn’t just about ideas—it's about offering the identity your audience craves. Every pitch deals with a change, and every change means that those who adapt will do better, and those who do not will suffer. Make it abundantly clear what kinds of people are going to benefit from the changes your company is capitalizing on. Give the person you’re pitching an identity to move towards (i.e., I want to be a winner) and one to move away from (i.e., I don’t want to be a loser.) Then, coorelate those identities with actions they can take to get the positive identity (i.e., invest in us and get early access to a better future) and actions to avoid (i.e., don’t invest in our competitors because they’re fundamentally flawed and you’ll be burning your capital.) We buy identities and the feelings associated with them. Sell your audience a winning identity and you’ll win too.

Option 1: Build & hope — Assume you know best — Ship something ‘good enough’ — Get lukewarm response — Try again & get lucky Option 2: Ask & give — Ask what they want — Ask how they love to receive it — Pitch solution that combines them — Ship something amazing based on feedback I wonder which works better 😄

When coaching startups, there is a makor focus placed on developing angaging and high impact presentations. Sometimes, we are asked if it is bext to have a 3-minute, 5-minute or 10-minute presentation and my answer is all of the above. You need to have an arsenal of stories that you keep evergreen so they are tailored to the audience and the purpose of your presentation. There is even one more I like particularly... The One-minute pitch! I forgot who said this but the shorter it gets, the more challenging it is to come up with the right choice of words and the desired impact. Whether you need investments for a new business idea, advertise a product or promote yourself in order to get the job you want, knowing how to pitch effectively could be crucial. So take a look at these tips which could help you make the perfect pitch! 1. Know Your Audience: In order to succeed with your pitch you should know who the audience is. Know their interests, needs, preferences, backgrounds and possible budgets and adapt the pitch in a way that it fits best. By knowing this you also could prepare for possible questions you will get. 2. Prepare Thoroughly: Make sure that you know your pitch by heart in order to build confidence and fluency. List the key components to ensure it is well structured and foolproof. 3. Craft a Strong Opening: In order to make sure that people get invested in the pitch it is important to capture the attention from the start. You can do this by acknowledging the urgence of the topic or by asking difficult questions in order to get people invested. 4. Define the problem: Clearly highlight the problem or challenge your idea addresses. Highlight the significance and impact. 5. Present your solutions: Clearly explain how your idea solves the problem and with this be specific and focus on unique features. In order to make it stronger use visuals, storytelling or demonstration to show your solution to the problem. 6. Be enthusiastic and confident: Show your passion and belief in your own ideas. Don’t be afraid to make eye contact, vary your tone and speak with conviction.
