Meta just made a brilliant pivot in their XR strategy that will have a deep impact in the XR industry. In a world where Android XR is around the corner and Apple took the first step in trying to establish a XR foothold with their ecosystem, Meta just picked their XR biggest asset: The fact they have the content store that everyone wants in XR and a OS where they invested billions of dollars, and made that available to others. Money won't be in competing for HW but it will be in being the OS that manages all the services and holds the most eyeballs. I still wonder how the monetisation will be and how the market will react when Google largely announces the same with Android. What are your thoughts? How do you think this changes the XR landscape?
