Happy International Women's Day!! I want to thank all of the amazing women who have been supportive of me in my career. There are many! I also want to acknowledge that women are still tearing down other women regularly, especially in the workplace. I've had awful experiences of women at work bullying me and putting me down. When women support one another and champion one another, we can achieve so much more than we already do. Let us all be the change we want to see in the world, ahem workplace! What does that look like? 1. Hire women and then mentor them and give them opportunities to thrive. DM me if you are looking for summer interns! 2. Support female founders by following their social accounts, engaging and BUYING their products! 3. Give your time to the women coming up after you. As we all know, how fast the market is growing these days, and in between this, there are very few opportunities for all the people to get hired and seek their job at good companies, And to get away from this, I recently attended a Session which was all about giving opportunities to the young female candidates out there. There are only 2 ways to improve Gender Diversity in tech.... Only 26% of the tech workforce (UK) is women This is actually up from 19% in 2019 (so that's a positive 👏) So what do we do? 1. Education - we need to educate young women earlier. But before anything is done we need to inspire. Everyone has heard of Zuckerberg / Musk/ Bezos but have they heard of Sheryl Sandberg  / Susan Wojcicki / Ginni Rometty ? The media needs to help. Once we create interest we need to increase apprenticeships and work placements in tech companies. Existing programmes do exist but we need higher demand & participation Without looking at the route cause we are just shuffling the existing 26% 2. Create New Interdisciplinary Roles - To bridge the gender gap in your IT organization, create more jobs that combine programming skills with skills from other business domains. Once you have attracted more women to your organization with interdisciplinary roles, offer them development opportunities to move to roles that have a stronger “dry-coding” nature All companies claim to want a gender diverse workforce but are doing very little to actually influence change. Things are better than 10 years ago but we can certainly do more.... #genderdiversity #womenintech

In 2022, it was an estimated 27.6%.  Its a good practice to hire a women as they will add innovation to companies by providing new insights and problem-solving solutions to male-dominated industries.
