📢 When Greenwashing Gets Deadly 💀 Boeing has been making headlines lately, but the corporate sustainability world has missed their deadly greenwashing. 😬 In 2011, Boeing announced plans for a new fuel-efficient plane to replace its aging, fossil fuel-guzzling 737 fleet. 🛩️ Instead of designing a sustainable plane from scratch (which would've taken time and money 💰), Boeing decided to follow Airbus' model and slap a new fuel-efficient engine on their old planes - chasing that short-term high. 🤑 Enter: the 737 Max. 💥 The new engines compromised the plane's aerodynamics, but Boeing doubled down on sustainability claims, desperately trying to compete with Airbus' fuel-efficient engine. 🌳🤥 The 737 Max disasters are a direct result of prioritizing speed over sustainability, resulting in a flawed product that claimed nearly 350 lives and endangered hundreds more. 💔 Capitalism is supposed to drive improvements through competition, but the 737 Max shows how competition can lead to worse long-term results. 🔥 The pressure to be the fastest and cheapest sustainable option led to disaster. 💣 Boeing had a decade to advance plane design for a better world, but instead, they've murdered innocent people, destroyed their reputation, and become a poster child for corporate greed. 🤯 All because they used sustainability as a mere profit tool. 💸 The company, consumers, and the climate paid the price for Boeing's greenwashing. 🌎☠️ Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gFniyQ-R
