On October 11, SEMI Southeast Asia, in collaboration with SEMI Energy Collaborative (EC) and the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC), hosted a roundtable in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event brought together PETRA (Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), Jabatan Single Buyer, and key stakeholders from the semiconductor ecosystem to explore the path forward for corporate clean energy procurement. With Malaysia’s renewable energy potential, collaboration is essential for accelerating clean energy adoption. The discussions centered around: - Diversifying Procurement Options: Expanding the range of renewable energy procurement mechanisms for greater flexibility. - Addressing Cost Concerns: Ensuring the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) is cost-effective and transparent. - Enhancing Long-Term Pricing Clarity: Providing clearer projections to support corporations in making long-term clean energy procurement decisions. This roundtable is part of a series across Asia, following Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore, with the collective goal of driving a sustainable energy future for the semiconductor industry. SEMI Southeast Asia extends our thanks to PETRA, our partners, and energy collaborative members for the excellent discussion. Stay tuned for the release of the SEMI Energy Collaborative Malaysia position paper, and join us in our efforts to drive decarbonization across the region. #SEMI #SEMISEA #ACEC #Malaysia #Semiconductor #Sustainability #EnergySector

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚. In Berau, East Kalimantan, where electricity was once a scarce resource, the MCA Indonesia – Berau project has revolutionized daily life by turning it into a 24/7 reality. Before this initiative, the local community relied on personal diesel generators that operated for just 4-6 hours a day, severely limiting their productivity and economic growth. With the installation of a 2.1 MWp Solar PV system, supported by 1.2 MWh storage, featuring Jinko 265Wp (1,152 units) and REC 265Wp (3,456 units) panels, along with 48 Sunny Tripower STP 25KTL inverters, continuous electricity has not only become a reality but has also ignited a wave of economic development. This project now delivers an annual yield of approximately 29.31 MWh and reduces CO2 emissions by around 12.2 tons per year. The community's joy and excitement have been overwhelming, as electricity—a basic need—was previously unmet. But the journey didn’t end with providing power; it extended to educating the community on efficient energy use, empowering them to optimize electricity based on their needs and further boosting productivity. For leading Independent Power Producers (IPPs), this project demonstrates how investing in renewable energy infrastructure, especially with SMA’s reliable and efficient technology, can yield significant returns on investment. With SMA's advanced solutions ensuring long-term asset performance and reliability, IPPs can confidently count on achieving both their financial and sustainability goals. This project stands as a shining example of how renewable energy can transform lives, catalyzing economic growth, improving living standards, and delivering robust returns. We’re proud to be part of such impactful initiatives that empower communities and pave the way for a sustainable future. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #CommunityEmpowerment #Indonesia #IPP #SustainableInvestment Tanmay Samant I Imam Askolani I Yogesh Sharma I Akuo
