In the Wake of Devastation, Our Humanity Shines Brighter Hurricane Helene has caused unimaginable devastation, with over 160 lives lost and countless people displaced, left struggling to meet their basic needs. The heartbreaking images of destruction are difficult to see, but they also awaken a deep sense of responsibility within us to take action. As a dedicated member of the San Francisco Rotary Club, I have seen the remarkable impact that collective action can achieve. Just yesterday, we raised over $5,000 to provide critical relief, but this is only the start; the need is overwhelming, and our work is far from finished. Here is how you can make a difference. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every contribution matters. Your generosity will transcend a mere donation; it will be a lifeline, restoring shattered lives, rekindling hope, and reminding those affected that they are not forgotten. 💙 Donate today to make a lasting impact: https://lnkd.in/eZDnqEe5 Select: Designated to a specific project or purpose Enter: HURRICANE RELIEF In moments like these, we prove that together, we are unstoppable. More adverse reports about FEMA's performance, as seen in this video and all the related comments that are attached. Definitely worth reviewing to get a sense as to how the country views this entire situation.

TRUTH about the disaster in North Carolina! Straight from #lawenforcement - DO NOT Donate To FEMA For Hurricane Helene Victims!! Listen then REPOST this EVERYWHERE!! “Please do not donate to FEMA. They are hindering a lot of what people are trying to accomplish out in the western part of the state.” “By now, everyone's heard about what's going on in the western part of Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Florida, Georgia. Donate. Please donate what you can, try to find a nonprofit to donate to. Uh, church, local PD. A lot of those are taking donations, sheriff's departments. I know my department is running a bunch of stuff to the western part of the state to help donate, but please do not donate to FEMA. They are hindering a lot of what people are trying to accomplish out in the western part of the state.” “FEMA doesn't understand that these Appalachian people are built differently. I'm very familiar with them. They are not gonna stand by idly and have government officials tell them what to do. FEMA's playing a game of FAFO because free men don't ask for permission. Again, please donate and help these people out. They need us now more than ever.” #thinblueline #lawenforcement

Hurricane Helene has devastated parts of the southeastern United States, especially northwestern North Carolina, northwestern South Carolina and eastern Georgia. We are keeping all the YMCAs affected in those regions, your staff, and your communities in our thoughts and prayers. ❤️ If you want to help, there are a few immediate ways to do so: Contribute to the Employee Assistance Fund, which provides financial aid to Y staff in need after natural disasters and other crises. Staff who have been impacted can apply for support at this same link https://bit.ly/4dyxsq6 Donate to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund. Y-USA has created this centralized relief fund and will work with Alliance leaders to distribute donations to YMCA associations that need them most, to aid near-term efforts to get damaged facilities back up and running and to support long-term recovery. https://bit.ly/3N75s2c

As donation drives start to wind up for Hurr Helene relief, I wanted to share the below message and remind folks that, although well intentioned, your unsolicited donations will CAUSE more problems for responders and relief organizations than they will solve. If you want to truly help, don't clean out your garage or go shopping, send cash. How to Help After Hurricane Helene - adapted from a FEMA message on September 29, 2024: THERE IS NO REQUEST FOR DONATIONS OUTSIDE OF CASH. Do not send unsolicited donated goods, and please do not self-deploy. Cash donations are the most effective way to help after a disaster. National VOAD members and partners are assisting communities in need. National VOAD members and partners will serve these communities as long as necessary. Here are some of the organizations providing support to people who experienced loss from the storm: · Alabama – Alabama VOAD (alvoad.org) · Florida – FLVOAD (wpengine.com) · Georgia – Georgia VOAD (gavoad.org) · Kentucky – Kentucky Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (kentuckyvoad.org) · North Carolina – North Carolina Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (ncvoad.org). · South Carolina – https://lnkd.in/eXYwZsrT. · Tennessee – Tennessee VOAD (tnvoad.org)
