Is it too early to start reflecting on the year? 🤔 Over the last few days, our office has been buzzing with plans and ideas for well-deserved winter holidays, so we’d like to take a moment to appreciate the hard work everyone has put in before Christmas greetings begin to flood our feeds. Here are a few ways we express our gratitude and encourage others to do the same: 👇 - Recognition programs. We highlight achievements during our weekly meetings, team breakfasts, and through a “shout-out” board, celebrating both individual and team accomplishments throughout the year — not just at the end! - Personalised gifts. Small, creative tokens of appreciation can bring a smile as you continue to grow your career. For instance, we create movie-style posters featuring our team members as the stars. - Wellness initiatives. We offer opportunities for self-care, like yoga classes and mindfulness sessions, to help everyone recharge and come back even stronger. Plus, we embrace the flexibility to work from wherever you feel most comfortable. To be part of a team where you can take time off without feeling guilty and instead feel supported, check out our open positions at: https://lnkd.in/eneDCDbN ✈️ #Skyllence #PrivateJetHire #CharterBroker #CharterFlights #Aviation

It’s Friday, and while I’m excited for the weekend ahead, I was lucky enough to have my well-being day yesterday. What’s that, you ask? Well-being days are a fantastic perk becoming more common in companies. Essentially, it’s a day off each month to do whatever you need – whether that’s running errands, spending time with loved ones, relaxing, or simply focusing on your well-being. 💆♀️ I’m incredibly grateful to have this at Audiense and I honestly can’t imagine working somewhere without this benefit in the future. You quickly realise what a privilege it is to have these extra days (we get two a month!) to focus on yourself. Work is important, but so is your well-being. After all, if you’re not feeling your best, it’s hard to be your best – both at work and in life. Does anyone else find perks like these make a real difference?😎 #wellbeing #workplacebenefits

“We’re all going on a summer holiday, no more working for a week or two”…but then what? August is the month when many people take a well-earned break & go on a summer holiday, with family, maybe with friends, perhaps on their own. When people return feeling refreshed and ready to go leaders and managers need to be ready to make the most of the uplift by welcoming their team back with some new ideas to ensure that positivity is harnessed. As a leader you can achieve this by identifying and nurturing where your team both collectively and individually feel most inspired and engaged with their work; lets refer to this for now as their “happy place”. “Happy places” are those moments, activities, or environments that bring joy and satisfaction to our team. Whether it's a collaborative project, a quiet corner for focused work, or a team lunch, these happy places can significantly boost morale and engagement. Remember, they have just returned from holiday where (hopefully) they had a great time & a chance to unwind, where work was forgotten for that time, so coming back to face the reality of getting back in & focused can bring them down to earth with a bump so engage with them nice & early & get them involved quickly with some inspired thinking. So how can you do this? Listen Actively: Regularly check in with your team to understand what they enjoy most about their work. Encourage Feedback: Create an open environment where employees feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and preferences. Observe Interactions: Pay attention to when and where your team seems most engaged and enthusiastic. Celebrate Wins: Recognize and celebrate both big and small achievements to foster a sense of accomplishment and belonging. Foster Connections: Organize team-building activities and social events to strengthen relationships and create a supportive community. A great tool to use here is The GC Index Index which you can use very easily to see where your team has preferences around the tasks that energize them the most; what’s that saying “find a job you love & you’ll never work a day in your life! By focusing on these positive actions, we can help our employees feel valued and motivated, inspiring them to return from holiday ready to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be! Everyone wants to come to work to make a difference- to be in that “happy place”; just imagine the energy in your business if everyone was in a place where they simply felt great! If you want to know how quickly & easy you can make the most of the ideas I’ve shared here then feel free to DM or call me on 07885 447039 & I'll talk you through how it’s done-maybe you have your own ideas so please feel free to share on this thread. Have a great holiday!

Great post Mark! Always thought-provoking content that you deliver in your courses. When a member of staff goes on leave It’s a great time for a manager to sit down and reflect on a team members performance and put together a plan for them to assist with achieving their goals on their return, however it’s just as important to ensure before they go an annual leave that the manager communicates how valued they are and that although they will be missed its important for them to unwind and relax. Being valued, and appreciated is key to staff morale and a happy work life balance.

Nurturing Our Workplace Garden 🌱 Happy Friday, everyone! Let's take a moment to think about our work week and our work environments through the lens of positive psychology. Imagine our workplace as a garden 🌿 where we all are unique plants growing together in a shared space. Just like plants need the right balance of sunlight, water, and nutrients, we all flourish with the right mix of job demands and resources. Now, think about your work this week and reflect on: 🔍 Your Work Challenges (Job Demands): These are like the weather for our garden. A little bit of stress (like the rain) sometimes helps us to grow, but too much can be overwhelming (a destructive storm). What challenges did you face this week? How did they affect you? 🌟 Your Work Help (Job Resources): These are things that help you grow, like good soil and sunshine for our garden. This could be help from coworkers, learning new things, or feeling appreciated. What helped you this week? What do you wish you had more of? 🌱 Your Inner Strength (Personal Resources): Our inner strength, resilience, optimism, and sense of purpose are like the roots that keep us grounded and strong. How did you use your inner strength this week? How can you make it stronger? Let's think about how we can individually and collectively cultivate a thriving workplace garden. #HappyFriday #WorkReflection #TeamGrowth #WorkplaceWellbeing

This week, I am shining a light (and getting a little political) on the real heartbeat of our company—our incredible care team. National Work Life Week is about balance, but for us, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on something I’ve been thinking about a lot: What does it truly mean to feel supported and valued in care work? At the recent Suffolk Care Awards, I heard these words—un supported and under valued—echoed in speeches. Yes, we know (we hear the stories all the time) that so many carers are feeling stretched, unseen, and overwhelmed. It got me thinking. We set out in 2013 to achieve the opposite to those stories Our vision is to create a care company that believes in investing time and energy into ensuring the well-being and happiness of our teams. We believe that by doing this we empower them to deliver an exceptional service to our clients. So on reflection we’re committed to going beyond the buzzwords of “support” and “valued” We want to make sure that when we say you’re supported, it means you have the resources, flexibility, and time to deliver quality care without burning out. And when we say you’re valued, it’s about more than recognition—it’s about knowing your voice matters, your contributions are seen, and your role is integral to our success. This week, let’s use National Work Life Week as a stepping stone to not only focus on work-life balance but to truly understand what it means to make our team feel genuinely supported and valued, not just in words but in action, every single day. 🌟 Ps I also believe with a passion two things 1) society needs to understand the what and why behind carers feeling unsupported and undervalued (happy to answer that question) 2) if those sentiments keep being talked about every person in the care sector delivering care will end up believing it. Let’s start to understand the real problem and talk more consistently about the positivity behind care in the community #NationalWorkLifeWeek #CareTeamAppreciation #SupportAndValue #CareForCarers #ThriveAtWork #RealSupportRealValue

"The greatest gift you can give your team is a positive attitude." - Shola Richards The holidays are just around the corner, and you know what that means - eggnog, ugly sweaters, and...stress? 😓 This year, let's flip the script and turn the most wonderful time of the year into the most wonderful time at work! Here are three festive ways to boost your team's morale before the holidays hit: 🎁 Secret Santa... with a Twist! Instead of the traditional gift exchange, try a "Talents & Treasures" swap. Have each team member share a unique skill or hobby they can "gift" to the group - like baking holiday treats, leading a meditation session, or giving professional headshots. Watching your colleagues showcase their hidden talents is the ultimate feel-good experience. 📽️ Holiday Movie Marathon Transform your conference room into a cozy cinema! Schedule a fun afternoon screening of holiday classics (with plenty of hot cocoa, of course). Encourage everyone to come in their coziest PJs or silliest holiday attire. You'll be amazed how quickly laughter and inside jokes start flowing when you join forces to spot movie plot holes. 🎨 Deck the (Virtual) Halls If your team is hybrid or remote, get creative with virtual holiday décor! Host a "Festive Flair" contest where people transform their work-from-home spaces - that could mean themed Zoom backgrounds, DIY desk ornaments, or ugly holiday sweater contests. Share the results on your company channels to spread the cheer across the organization. The holidays are about more than just checking to-do lists. This year, let's bring the magic back by celebrating what truly matters - the incredible people we get to work alongside every day. What's the most creative way your team has boosted morale during the holidays? I can't wait to hear your ideas! #TeamMorale #HolidaySeason #WorkplaceWellness #CompanyCulture

THE ROLE OF FUN AT WORK In my latest book, “Lost & Found”, I write a lot about accepting the many seeming dichotomies and incongruities in life. It’s often, for example, when we feel lost that we can find ourselves and at the same time, find opportunities we’d never expected. It’s in fear and anxiety that we can sometimes find joy and exhilaration (has anyone been skydiving?). It’s in sitting with and accepting distress, that we can find a deeper form of happiness and contentment. Well, this same notion can be applied in the workplace when it comes to fun and play. I don’t think anyone would argue that every minute of every day, in every office or workplace should be laughter and games. We all have responsibilities, and we all have a degree of drudgery to our jobs. At the same time, however, the research findings are very clear. Those workplaces that allow for appropriate fun and play are the same workplaces in which there’s a higher degree of engagement and satisfaction. Happiness at work is inspiring and motivating! So how can you have fun at work? - One of the simplest ways is to celebrate successes and wins, as well as birthdays and other landmark dates - Establish traditions of games and competitions - Use music and/or mealtimes (pot lunch anyone?) - Organise regular social events (outside the office environment) - Set up communications channels where people can share what they’re enjoying, from books and music to health and wellbeing challenges to what they’re grateful for - Have fancy dress days and … there are so many ways we can all bring fun to our work in our own way so have some fun coming up with your own ideas! What do you think? How have you seen teams and workplaces effectively and appropriately create fun at work? #fun #funatwork #happinessatwork
